Umberto Lenzi, Delivering a Witness, Saving a Witness Maurizio Merly plays a brave Italian police officer tasked with bringing a witness from Sicily to New York. His testimony will allow the extradition and long-term imprisonment of one of the mobsters. This allows the picture to gain momentum - the whole intrigue will revolve around the escort of the witness. Of course, the mafia will be hindered. The classic model, which at first glance was more suited to the films with Charles Bronson and was very different from such familiar poliziotteschi. However, the omnipotence of the mafia was shown perfectly with a pinch of hopelessness.
Well, imagine that in one of the key episodes, the intrigue is suddenly diluted by several young robbers who ran into the store with pistols and do not suspect that they rob people who are quite difficult and dangerous. America in the image of Lenzi turned out to be much colder and more dangerous than good Italy. Literally on every corner there were wastelands, strange policemen and bandits.
To my taste, Umberto Lenzi said goodbye to poliziotteschi and made a completely self-sufficient and interesting movie. Traditionally, without going into details, he maintained intrigue throughout the tape. He did not go into details at all, the main criterion is interest. I note that the last detention was of course made in clear violation of procedural norms. But Lenzi is Lenzi.
