Dinosaur Mokele-mbembe is a long-necked dinosaur that, according to legends and rumors, survived a mass extinction 65 million years ago and is found in Africa. The situation is about the same as with the Loch Ness monster: there are conversations among the people, but there is no weighty evidence, and official science does not recognize these cases. This movie is about finding dinosaurs in Africa. It should be noted immediately that this movie has nothing to do with the book “The Lost World”, despite its name.
There are scientists. They seem to have found evidence of the legend, but have not yet found the lizards themselves, and begin to search. In the film you can look at the beautiful nature, and it is a plus. But in the negative immediately goes a boring scenario. There are few events, there is not much to watch. Scientists wander through the jungle, talk to Aborigines. At some point, there is a desire to see dinosaurs as soon as possible, because a lot of time has passed, and very little has happened.
Events go unenthusiastic, and when dinosaurs appear on the screen, it only gets worse. It is clear that “Jurassic Park” was still far away, but such poor, artificial stuffed people did not allow themselves even the creators of very old films. You can think of “A Million B.C.” or “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth.” Those films are much older, but the special effects were made conscientiously, and therefore even now they can be treated with respect, but here - cheapness and "cheap".
Naturally, there is a predictable move “evil people want to harm animals.” The idea itself is a good idea, but when actors are a bit useless, and dinosaurs are even less useful, you should not count on dramatic turns of events. Although, I must admit that there is excitement here, albeit weak. The cub has a nice face. If brontosaurs were not like artificial legged barrels with rubber necks and heads, and artificial long tails, it would be the case.
But the problems are not limited to primitive effects and pale feelings. In the end, the film generally turns into some ugly comedy with elements of a stupid action movie. I just don’t want to laugh, I want to be upset.
Dinosaur movies are an interesting thing, but when there are no well-made scenes with dinosaurs, there is nothing to be happy about. Making a movie about Mokel-mbembe is an interesting idea, but there is no sense in it. An emotional message to the viewer that nature should be protected is a good thing, but for this you need genuine feelings, and you will not experience them, looking at the tastelessly made layout.
