Rich slackers sail on a yacht to one of the Virgin Islands. The daughter of a tribal leader rescues one of them from a shark. He falls in love with her and stays on the island. The man wants to take her with him, but is refused, because the girl is afraid of a curse.
This romantic melodrama, shot by the classic American cinema King Vidor, exploits the fashionable in the early 30s in Hollywood theme of love and adventure on tropical islands The film at one time caused a big scandal. It was released before the Hayes Codex era and was full of candid scenes for cinema at the time. The main character performed by Dolores Del Rio bathed naked and together with Joel McCree walked half-naked (Joel in one shorts and Dolores in a skirt and necklace).
What used to cause excitement and scandal, now, of course, looks quite innocent and naive. The film is more than average and is now interesting only as a kind of artifact of its era. In a couple of years, the Hayes Code will make shooting such a movie impossible for almost three decades.
