He was old for all that (two more years before the mainstream makes it) The film attracted me with Michael Paré and a plot from good old-fashioned ’80s fiction: escape from a space prison. What could be better?
As it turns out, a lot of things. Let’s start with the fact that the cosmos, as such, is almost absent in the picture – instead of it, the countryside is blown away, containing few futuristic elements. But it was normal at the time - the sun of Westerns had not yet set over the prairies and style dictated convention. Like a cardboard scoundrel - the hero Paré, who is confronted by Farnsworth's hero - the chief overseer, enjoying the pre-retirement years behind the garden with crops. Of course, he has a dramatic story about years of service. And, of course, she will backfire to him in the last fight, when this powerful old man puts aside the hood and again takes up the service shotgun for hunting fugitives.
But, despite all the above, the film is quite good from the point of view of the Western, although it is nowhere suitable by the standards of fiction.
6 out of 10
One added because of the excellent soundtrack.
