What a time it was… There was a wonderful country in Africa called Rhodesia. Its history as an independent state began on 1 November 1965 and ended on 18 April 1980. A strong and prosperous country where blacks and whites had equal rights, the breadbasket of Africa and the most prosperous state on the continent. But there was one trouble - it was managed by Ian Smith - a hero pilot and a man who did not want to bend to the interests of the "world community". Now in this territory is one of the poorest countries in the world - Zimbabwe, ruled by an elderly dictator and a "friend" of Russia, who for twenty-seven years of rule managed to kill, literally everything. That's not a funny story. But that's not what the movie is about. It is about the war that Rhodesia waged against the communist rebels, about who these rebels were and about the war with them of an individual.
The home of the protagonist Terik is attacked by militants sponsored by the Soviet Union, ZANLA, his fiancée is raped and killed, and he, along with his friend, begins a hunt for the perpetrators, led by a certain Albinos. Also in the roundup of the Albinos gang, a unit of the Rhodesian SAS participates, the task of which will be complicated by the fact that they must ahead of Terik, going to certain death.
Like most African films of those years, it's honest and hard. The ZANLAs are shown as they were (do not believe – read the memoirs of Rhodesians or at least a chronicle of terrorist attacks). The history of personal revenge against the backdrop of the war on terror has evoked very strong emotions. And it's not just a sick topic, specifically for me. The film has excellent actors, of whom Christopher Lee stands out as a senior BSAP officer and suitable music. You can also see the real Rhodesian special forces as extras.
In general, I recommend to everyone who is not indifferent to this topic, who sincerely sympathize with the residents of Biafra, Congo, Rhodesia ... where people could live with dignity, if not for the betrayal of the notorious “world community”.
P.S.
Something hurts emotionally that I usually don’t. Apparently, indeed, a “sick topic”...
