"Teddy at full speed" “Do you believe in love at first sight?”
Early in her career, Gloria Swanson starred in comedies at Keystone Studios. Then she became a serious actress, performed dramatic roles in Cecil DeMille's films. "Teddy at Full Speed" (I like the title better than the movie search translation) is Swanson's most famous film of the comedy period. Here she plays in a pair with Bobby Vernon: together starred in such films as “Dangerous Girl” (1916) and “The Sultan’s Wife” (1917). In the story, the couple tries to separate the mercantile guardian of Gloria, who brings Bobby and his sister to get the entire inheritance of the girl. The story develops in the spirit of David Wark Griffith: tied to the rails Swanson in the last minute rushes to save the... Teddy.
Teddy is actually a wonderful dog. The most positive character in the film, who will not betray and at any moment will come to the rescue. That's the satire. Dog Teddy, by the way, built a wonderful career in Hollywood - he played with Mary Pickford and Mabel Normand, and in the 20th like Gloria - grew to roles in DeMille. It's all very cute and funny. Clarence Badger’s short film turned out to be extremely dynamic and interesting, practically sagging. Not everything is smooth, of course, but I really want to say yes to her, and somehow reconsider. I watched the 24-minute version, chose the soundtrack (in the version I watched it is very cheerful and cheerful, minor melodies in silent short films can not stand), the triangular screensaver of Keystone was not cut.
For the beautiful Gloria Swanson and the great dog Teddy will not regret:
