Burt Reynolds and Laura Antonelli - wild, lazy and beautiful What is missing from this film? It is clear that the creators put on repeating the aesthetics invented in the “spaghetti trilogy” Sergio Leone. It is obvious and pleasantly pleases the composition of the performers - for the most demanding taste. Here you can meet the veteran James Garner, and the young in those years and did not lose the male brutality in “Smokey and the Bandit” by Burt Reynolds, and even, just won the whist sexy Laura Antonelli. But it doesn’t work together.
Bert's courageous passers are very good, and it is clear that in Sergio Leone's universe he would not be lost. But he really had nothing to play here. Even memorable scenes do not remain in your memory (here you do not even "Navajo Joe").
The same can be said about Laura. The actress for the period of filming in the film proved and confirmed both her sexuality on the screen and high acting talent. However, all her advantages were leveled - the actress more resembled a banal Hollywood starlet than herself.
What about the movie? Somehow reluctantly, grunting and rolling from side to side, the narrative moves. It is clear that it will be about gang and profit sharing. The aesthetics of "Spaghetti Western" here is deprived of psychology and tension, getting a cute set of gags, so lightweight as the "gray" scenario. Even the scene of one of the film's most iconic deaths managed to lubricate.
However, the film is no less superficial than many passing tapes of that period. Westerns were stamped at all times, and the duet of Laura and Bert, even if “neutralized” by mediocre directing, is worth a lot. I'm sure if you did this Corbucci painting, it would be a better picture. And in the proposed form, before us another tasteless "spaghetti" .
