Eddie's alive! The film is a continuation of the cult film of 1983, about the fictional musical group "Eddie and the Wanderers", and tells about the fate of its leader Eddie Wilson.
First of all, I want to say right away that I love this film more than the original, since in the first picture there were essentially three main characters, and here the main character is now only Eddie. This makes the picture very exciting and emotional.
The plot is a bit like the first picture - the music business against the human soul. The producers, taking advantage of rumors that Eddie may still be alive, are struggling to make even more millions. Meanwhile, Eddie has long lived in Canada under a different name, works as a builder and writes songs and music in his spare time. He grew a mustache, so no one recognizes him. He falls in love with a good girl Diane, and soon admits to her who he really is.
The film is filled with emotions, emotional experiences and powerful musical energy. But unlike the first picture, it also reveals the character. Eddie, his inner world, in the first picture he was quite mysterious, and we knew little about him as a person.
The cast is very good, primarily Michael Pare as Eddie, and Marina Orsini as Diane. Their harmonious play is above all praise, they showed the relationship between their heroes very convincingly. The heroine of Orsini is very relevant in the plot of the film, especially she will affect the main character in the final.
Directing is very decent. Despite the fact that Jean-Claude Lord could not recreate the atmosphere of the concerts and the manner of Eddie’s performance as perfectly as the director of the first film Martin Davidson did, he managed to stunningly convincingly stage the performance of all the actors, one compensates for the other.
The new songs are very good, John Cafferty wrote them again. Just like in the first movie, he sings for Michael. Songs from the first film are often heard.
In my opinion, this is the best example of continuation. The film is much better than the original. Amazing drama! Pare and Orsini deserve an Oscar!
