Firepower. 1992 was the best year in the history of combat cinema. These twelve months showed the world record, in my opinion, indicators for the qualitative indicator of the genre. It wasn't the States that took me. Concretely cementing the 91st, Uncle Sam loosened his belt and lost the lead to Hong Kong, not for the first time, but for the last time. The global merit of the year is five masterpiece action films, five manual films to create an entertaining movie.
First of all, a kind of “our everything” comes to mind. American Fight, a landscape of racketeering and hair combed back. At the same time, Gladiator (not to be confused with Ridley Scott’s pop) noticed that the Pepsi pager-MTV gloss before his eyes did not save America from unearned income. And Hong Kong? Hong Kong has defended its title as the Capital of Contrasts. On the one hand, the bloody police saga "Coolly Boiled." On the other – vaudeville “City Hunter”, which managed to parody the genre, and bring it to a new level.
The fifth line of my top a year before the time was occupied by the original action movie Ringo Lama “Full contact”. Oddly enough, before us is the situation when piece product is replaced by conveyor. “Full contact” is a stylish film, it is difficult to confuse it with some shooting-murdering contemporary, you look and understand what the director did high – otherwise it could not be. Of course, this is not a typical film for the period when British subjects, in anticipation of large red cranes, hastily shot a radically commercial film. You make for a penny, you sell for two or three. Never ambitious? But no risk. Vulgar? Maveton raises such a question, saves for emigration, as we can ...
Now the fifth line is assigned to the “Beauty Inspector”. Here he is, a pure-blooded Hong Kong action movie from the early '90s, Category B in Asian. The writer clearly received a fee only for the plot and characters, but the narrative and dialogue, apparently, were composed by the actors during the filming. Does it matter? Perhaps, yes, the minus is a minus, but it dissolves in the veil of pluses. First, the operator refrained from going to the buffet without turning off the camera: the viewer clearly sees what is happening on the screen. Secondly, the editor cut the film thoughtfully, without sadism, and therefore did not do without long takes. Thirdly, what an amazing cast in the film. Charming Moon Lee, Yukari Oshima, as always, invincible, naked Sophie Crawford in the shower, honored henchman Billy Chow - and they all change. Of course, in the spirit of high-speed nail overdose. Melvin Vaughn and Tai Bo did not take part in the mahacha festival, but I cannot mention such respected people, yes, they are also present here. Action strikes with variety: and in hand-to-hand played, and shot juicy, and fencing, and even staged a chase.
Yeah. The conversation, as you understand, was not so much about this film as about the glorious movie dragon, which we will soon lose irretrievably. This is not only my opinion, but also that of Sammo Hung. I'm afraid in its next generation, Hong Kong cinema is hopeless. My heart hurts from this, but there is nothing I can do. On the other hand, would we appreciate this great movie of the 80s and 90s so highly if its technology continued to flourish to this day? No, it is his fabulous remoteness from our days that makes thousands of gourmets around the world from time to time review glorious action films like “Beauty Inspector”.
