Disassembly in Hong Kong ... They want me to give them the ring, and it's in your house. Trust me with the buffalo!
- You're playing great. Why don't you go to Hollywood? You will be given the main role there.
The legendary Lau Kar-Lyung began at the Show Brothers, but the golden days of the costumed mustache are gone forever. At the dawn of the 90s, the city police fighter was already in fashion. Then there is the famous “Tiger in the police”. Inspired by the success of the first part, the director shoots “Tiger in Police-2”, and almost with the same cast. But pumped Conan Lee charisma is far from Yoon Fat, so the movie turned out more in the style of Jackie Chan (just jumping on a lamppost is worth what). True, in terms of humor and tricks with Chan, too, can not be compared, but the shooting was stuffed no less than that of Yoon Fat. Believe me, this is a movie, definitely not removed!
Note that sequels are always compared with the original and sympathy, as a rule, is not in favor of the sequel. Yeah. The plot is somewhat played out (well, who would believe in an hour and a half running for a ring?). Yeah. The jokes are silly. But if we abstract from the 1st part (which has already become almost a classic), then thanks to the excellent action, the 2nd is no less worthy representative of the 90s in the genre of martial arts. So, the last half an hour (especially the final showdown at the factory) will pay off your expectations with more than one hand – in Hong Kong tough tricks (the glass was broken no less than in “Police Story”), grinding fights (Lau Kar-Lung knows his business well) and heavy shooting (the bullet there was fired unmeasurably).
I must say, among the Hong Kong directors, Lau Kar-Lyung was famous for thinking through his action scenes quite thoroughly. Therefore, despite the seemingly secondary plot (which is often accused of this movie), several scenes from here even migrated later to other films. For example, a fight on spilled engine oil near the bus appeared later in Bessonov’s “The Carrier”, and Jackie Chan’s bare feet cut against broken glass were in “Lightning Strike”. In general, life-threatening stunts and fights using improvised means were enough here (especially the fire hose on the roof and the defibrillator in the hospital). It is a pity only the beautiful Ellen Chan, she was already thrown through the glass not a little.
