Epic movie! A stunning mix of cutting-edge science, stunning visual effects, mythology and fantasy. This film was watched for the first time yesterday, according to the filmography of Sunila Shetty. Yes, I actually only watched it for the sake of Sunila, and for the sake of Sanjay Dutta, too. They are both gorgeous in it. Sunil in the role of a demon (like a negative character), Sanju in the role of a person opposing a demon, on the side of good (like a positive character). I think this film is a breakthrough film in Indian cinema at the time of 2004. Sanjay Dutt is a tough man, his scenes of martial arts and meditation are impressive, and he is here with insanely long hair below the shoulder blades (such as Vladimir Presnyakov in his youth).
Gayatri, along with a group of scientists from America, is investigating black magic, witchcraft and unexplained phenomena in India. During archaeological excavations, scientists find Rudraksha, the sacred amulet of Lord Shiva, possessing destructive power, which was seized by Bhurya, the expedition worker. He becomes an omnipotent demon, crushing everything in his path. The only one who can cope with him is the son of the priest Varun, who has incredible paranormal abilities and masters the art of hand-to-hand combat, able to resist the messenger of the forces of darkness.
The film revolves around Varuna, a man who has a special ability to heal the pain and suffering of those he touches. His special ability attracts the attention of a researcher of paranormal phenomena Gayatri (Bipasha Basu). Gayatri and her team of researchers are amazed by the mental abilities and magical abilities Varuna. They come from America to India to do some experiments, and Varun willingly agrees. Thus, Varun embarks on an adventure that takes him from the northern tip of his country (the Himalayas) to the southernmost tip (Sri Lanka).
Thriller + fantasy + action + legends. The film’s team has definitely done a huge amount of research in the fields of Hindu mythology, archaeology, biology, anatomy, genetics, Einstein’s theories and so on. The depth of the interesting concepts was amazing. I was particularly struck by the comparison of God/Brahman with the Divine Internet. The cast, with their innovative costumes and outfits, helped give the film a fresh look. The scenery, including an archaeological excavation, a scientific laboratory, a modest house, ancient caves and a multidimensional “matrix”, gave this film a completely new look. The special effects were cool, but not very convincing, but of good quality when you look at the modest budget of the film.
Sunil and Sanjay are excellent in demonstrating their masculine characteristics, Bipasha Basu is natural and sexy, although her role could be more polished. But I was especially interested here Isha Coppicar - different, interesting, non-standard and talented . Also in the video in the club on stage in a cowboy hat you can see a certain Negar Khan, a very vulgar girl. I read about her, but in principle I do not know her, they say that later she dyed herself blonde.
Isha Koppikar cool looked and played well, but her character does not matter much for the plot and appeared so that Sunila Shetty was not boring. Sunil, who played the demon, was chic, stylish guy, although at first the same long-haired as Sanjai, but then with his super-brutal haircut. It is a pity that the scenes of his fights with Sanjay, which could become a new word in Indian cinema, are filmed with the use of obvious special effects, they are directly visible to the naked eye. But the impression of the film, they do not spoil. The songs were cool, especially liked - "Ishq Khudai" and "Kya Dard Hai" - sounded stunning!
The film mixes paranormal phenomena, science and mythology. The main thing is the true powers of Rudraksha, we never know what he is capable of. Given that the seed is a central aspect of the film, I think it would be nice to show how devastating it can really be. An additional plus are the explanations of the group of scientists, supplemented by very interesting references to DNA technology, genetic mutations, electromagnetic fields, three-dimensional holograms, parallel universes, archaeology, Hindu mythology and the human brain.
The dialogue is decent (though some of the Sanskrit is illegible), and at least fits the theme of the film. The whole narrative is conducted by the voice Amitabh Bachchan (as the narrator), it is generally fascinating. And the voiceover of the Arena Corporation (not gnawing this time, but quite a good two-voice) also pleased.
But still Mani Shankar, this is not Mani Ratnam, it is like heaven and earth. In this case, Mani Shankar turned out a semi-children's film with unnatural special effects, and a fairy tale story. It will be interesting to watch for children under 10 years old, and for ardent fans of Sunila and Sanjaya, others I think this film will be of little interest. I personally liked it. Sunil in the role of a super-fashionable and super-stylish demon is stunning. Yes and Sanjay, even when with normal hairstyle and short hair, is also very attractive in his image.
The background, visuals, special effects, and locations are pretty good, as is the combination of sexual charisma and sensual appeal. In general, you can look at yourself.
