Bulgarian spy classic On the Night of the Thirteenth is a Bulgarian spy film directed by Anton Marinovich. With an interval of three years, Marinovich shoots three excellent spy-detection films, which are now incorruptible Bulgarian detective classics. This film is the first of them.
The plot of the film is based on a car accident in which the engineer Primov gets, he is the director of a number of important technical facilities under construction and holds secret documents concerning construction sites. Bulgarian security officials who took up the case come to the conclusion that the car crash was not accidental. It was planned to seize the secret papers held by Primov.
Anton Marinovich should be recognized as a great master of films of this kind. He builds before us an exciting and as it turns out in the end a very confusing case. I personally watched the film with great interest, waiting for the final outcome. And the denouement, I must admit, was very, very unexpected. Throughout the picture, as soon as the tangle of incidents gets tangled, the tension does not subside for a minute, the film completely immerses you in what is happening on the screen. Suspense is a big plus of this picture.
All the actors in the film played their roles perfectly. Apostle Karamitev in the role of engineer Primov is flawless, he performed his role very professionally and it is not clear who he is a spy or not. A. Karamitev, People’s Artist of Bulgaria, classical Bulgarian actor, he left behind a sufficient number of memorable roles, he had a bright charisma, the audience loved him and always waited for his new roles. The apostle very accurately drew the characters of his characters and this film was no exception. I can’t help but mention Kosta Tsonev, his role as Major Andrei Panov, who is investigating this case, is flawless. Costa Tsonev, who left us a few years ago, was a great master of ironic cinema. He immortalized himself with his role as a scout in the film Mr. Nobody. Georgi Georgiev-Getz, People's Artist of Bulgaria, played a general and a chief of state security. This is a great Bulgarian actor, his roles have always been distinguished by a very great psychological depth and drawing of characters, one of the most significant of his acting works is the film “Peasant on a Bicycle”.
In general, the film looks interesting, events and actions in the film develop quite quickly, you will not be bored. The script is competently built, logical and does not sag. A number of interesting turns and unexpected moves are provided.
On the night of the thirteenth is a Bulgarian spy classic for all time. A great film about the capture of spies and saboteurs. Fans of detectives of the past years should like it. Competent directing, good script, excellent Bulgarian actors, downward tension make this film an excellent detective spectacle of past years.
