Oh, that Matsumoto. Since there are no reviews for this film, I will leave mine, if anyone will benefit. I’m going to cover not only Queen Millennia, but all the other films in the universe.
So, if you are a person who has never watched any anime on fairy tales (khm manga toes) L. Matsumoto, if you have not seen anything similar to this topic, do not know where it all began and where it ended, if you are loyal to Japanese animation of the 60-70s, then this film is for you.
Why? you may ask, very simply. Because all the films of this universe are absolutely not connected with each other, there are so many inconsistencies that an unprepared mind will suffer in fruitless attempts to connect all this into a single whole. That is why watching this film will not knock you out of the main rut, like the style, like the characters - watch anything and no matter in what order.
I will not list the entire history of this universe, I have reviewed most of the films and TV series about it and concluded that the film is the one I am currently reviewing, the most logical, quite decently visually worked out, consistent and less delusional in the behavior of the characters. But you do not think that this is a masterpiece accessible to everyone, because after watching the classics of Miyazaki’s antiquity, “Matsumoto crafts” can shock you with a very low level of performance of everything you can. I will not spoil and retell who is interested in him and he will see and appreciate himself.
And many people will ask, why is it not God that I give such a high rating? And the answer, as usual, is simple: collectively, it's the best cartoon in the series, it's well isolated and not tied to events that have already happened but that haven't been shown to us and then twisted ten times, and where the truth is not at all clear in the general mess as in this sentence without commas.
