"Port wine is the best medicine for heart experiences"
Two girls-girlfriends are going through a difficult period in life and trying to understand themselves. Marie is a Swiss, only child and pianist. After breaking up with a married lover, she calls Philipa with tears in her voice, hoping to share her sorrow. Filip is from Portugal, where it is customary to treat all adversity with port wine, she has a lot of relatives and she is going to get married, but she seems to be gnawing doubts.
During such periods, it is useful to stop, get out of the whirlpool of everyday life, look at everything from the side, relax by the sea. Filipa invites Marie to go with her to Portugal for a month, where they are waiting for conversations, landscapes, meetings.
This is the first full-length work by Patricia Plattner, who previously worked in plastic arts, won many awards and together with several friends founded the art studio “LES STUDIOS LOLOLO”. The film was presented at a competition in Locarno in 1989, from which Patricia Plattner found her voice in the film. In 1985, Patricia founded the production center Light Night Production, which, in addition to her own works and some Swiss films, will regularly collaborate with the legendary Paulo Branco, who has produced more than three hundred films. Their joint work will be: two beautiful films by Portuguese director Manuel de Oliveira, Cannibals and The Valley of Abraham, Border Line by Daniel Dubru, Modern Life by Laurence Ferreira Barbosa and the most Swiss of the films of the prolific Chilean director Raoul Ruiz “That Day”.
