Vampire nights Can I write a review of a cup of coffee? Ordinary coffee. Maybe not the most delicious. But drunk while traveling in some old big city, for example in Rome, in a small local cafe, located in some unknown, forgotten by tourists alley, in which you accidentally found yourself. How do you describe the pleasure of a cup of coffee? It’s not just about the drink itself. Important is the general atmosphere of the place, your mood, feelings of romance and adventure. So what can I write about the movie "Knights of the Vampires"?
Is this a good movie? Nope. Should it be included in the list of paintings you must see before you die? Definitely not. Do you even need to watch this movie? I think not. As they say, life is short, and it is better to spend time on some really good movie. However, if the craving for the unknown overpowers the healthy habit of watching the time-tested pictures; if the thirst for adventure makes you get off the well-groomed, signposted road to a dubious-looking roundabout forest path, which is not clear at all where it will lead and after how much time; or if suddenly at night you, like some vampire, just "take a roof off" and you want to go on an adventure and decide to watch these "Knights of Vampires." . .
You might like it! Maybe not. But the film can be given a chance. What is it about? I don’t think it makes sense to try to explain the story in detail, because that’s not the main thing here. But in short, “ours” (three ordinary American guys who just wanted to have a good night, with pleasure for the soul and body) against vampires (or rather, against three dangerously attractive young girls with fangs, driven by a thirst for blood). But if not the plot, then what is the main thing in the film? And that, in my opinion, is the atmosphere. The atmosphere of cheap youth American horror, in which a lot of all sorts of stupid moments, including stupid jokes (but stupid – not below the belt, as often done in modern superhero superfilms, but... just stupid, sometimes causing, nevertheless, a smile, and sometimes good-natured laugh or two, if you and the film go on the same wavelength). The horror is also partly adventure, in which youth and recklessness defy danger. But also in its own kind, some kind of romantic, where love and feeling play an important role. That’s all I want to say about this painting, no more, no less. If you haven’t seen the film yet, I think it will be more than enough for you to either forget about it forever, as unworthy of attention, or for now put this film aside in order to perhaps give it a chance in the future.
Because, again, the tape, though so, but directly “bad” I can not call it. With the right mood, the pleasure of watching is quite possible. Well, not only Dostoevsky, Chekhov and Gorky read? Sometimes you want something “bad” to relax. For example, some simple, without unnecessary ornate detective. Or light, without a clever second bottom fiction. Or a simple horror film, without drama and “psychologicalism”, cheap, but with a soul. That’s the horror, but from the world of cinema, and are “Knights of the Vampires”.
P. S.
One of the main characters of the picture is also very fond of the evening program about vampires on TV. Like the character in the movie Night of Fear (1985). I can also note some similarities between the Knights and another vampire nugget, the Vampire (1986). Well, this is the motive of the party, the club, the original desire of the heroes just to have a good night (a wish that turned out not difficult to guess what). But also the “dangerous” chemistry between a guy and a girl, a bond that suddenly arises at such a party.
