Dangerous game Michel Deville is a respected French director, and he has a number of the most diverse, so subtle and profound films. All his comedies and dramas are ambiguous, films are outstanding, and the love connoisseur of the gold collection of French cinema understands this well.
Of all Deville's works, I always single out the film "Deep Waters" with Isabelle Huppert and Jean-Louis Trentignan. This is a very interesting and unusual movie. Now before our attention is an even more successful picture by Michel Deville, in which he screens the novel. Before our attention is a cunning and sensual drama and thriller "Death in the French Garden".
The film is wonderful, and at one time was warmly received by both critics and audiences. The genre of this drama is mixed, there is a melodrama, and a detective, and crime, and even a thriller. The plot is impossible to predict, sharp dialogue and impeccably good performance of actors. This film is like an excellent French wine, which does not age over the years, but acquires taste and some charm.
We see the story of music teacher David. The banker hires him to teach his daughter music. David becomes a hostage to the banker’s wife, who quickly makes him his lover. A neighbor of the banker saves David from the killer. A man gets into a dangerous game in which he is a target from all sides, and all the characters are not indifferent to him. Will he be able to get away with a confused and dangerous situation?
What an attractive atmosphere in the film. The cinema looks with pleasure, in a light but pleasant tension. As if before us a subtle and deep novel with tricks in the plot and intricacies of the feelings of the characters. The director shot a decent film adaptation, and it is difficult to reproach it with something. In the film there are erotic scenes that fit the picture perfectly and make the film more sensitive and sensual.
Michel Piccoli cannot be disliked. He's a wonderful actor with a capital letter. In this picture, I felt most sorry for his character, and sympathy was on his side. It is impossible to forget the scenes in the French garden. Christophe Malawois played his starring role here, and the choice of actor was successful. Malawi has always been associated with this film. Richard Borenge’s hero seemed to me the most mysterious, and the dialogue with him is the most unpredictable and memorable.
Death in the French Garden is a 1985 dramatic and erotic thriller. The film is subtle and witty, complicated and with an unpredictable history, inflammable and dangerous. Bravo director and pleasant viewing.
