Englishman Thomas Stanwood, a master of fencing, is hired to guard the bride of the Spanish protege Don Carlos, the governor of the Italian town. A conspiracy is brewing against the power of the Spaniards, and Stanwood is drawn into it.
A classic film of the cloak and swords. The main role is played by Stuart Granger, who became famous in the 50s, playing noble heroes in Hollywood adventure films: King Solomon’s Mines, Prisoner of Zenda, Scaramush. In the early 60s he moved to Europe. Here, despite his 50 years, Greingeprore confidently and ironically plays a fencer and ladies' man. In the course of the action, his character does not miss a single female heroine, including the famous European film stars of the time Silva Koshina, Christina Kaufman, Marina Berti. In addition, among the creators of the tape there is one of the most famous Italian operators Tonino Delli Colli, who shot paintings by Leone, Fellini, Pasolini, Bertolucci.
In principle, a rather pleasant costume-adventure film, very benefiting from the play of Stuart Granger, bringing a share of irony to a rather traditional plot.
