An impressive walk through the dark side of the soul experiencing post-abortion syndrome, let the kaleidoscope of episodes and events be difficult to understand. In a low-budget film with good visuals, original acting work and a stylishly nervous soundtrack, artistic confusion reigns. The random elements added to the narrative mix of the numb slasher, which is so similar to a bad dream, are entertaining, but will fully clarify what is happening in the last 15 intense, bloody, shock minutes.
However, following the path of the ascent of the girl Aki to a high degree of madness, from the very beginning it is impossible not to notice that the plot concerns the love of society for the beautiful and slim, which will add mental anguish to the overweight main character. The image of a chubby and heavy Asian woman is ambiguous: the whole film is trying to figure out whether she is a criminal or a victim involved in a conspiracy spread by a sectarian cult of murder. The only thing that can be said for sure is that it will probably be the most anti-abortion of Japanese films, as both the physical and psychological detrimental effects of the procedure are acknowledged. For that reason alone, Evil Dead Trap 2 is one of the very few films Hollywood would NOT make an Americanized remake.
