Tom Sawyer and the Balalaika Stalingrad is not in the film.
Acting, too.
Now let's get this straight.
The film is set during the Second World War, where German fascist troops occupy a town where, for unknown reasons, several children remain, including the son of an English engineer (?), who organize guerrilla resistance. In terms of credibility, what is happening on the screen resembles a children's morning in an American school.
The script resembles a collection of stories united by one character, in each of which the hero performs the task - to find provisions, lay a mine, withstand the battle with the invaders. The development of heroes, any moral drama or overcoming the impossible in the picture is not observed.
The people who shoot this picture do not even represent the object of their history - the USSR in the picture is not authentic, the fascists resemble a village prick (singing to a guitar about Katenka).
If you compare with our film collection “Young Partisans”, it is better not to compare. It's not even The Elusive Avengers. It is recommended to watch only for academic purposes, after all, the rare American film, where Russians are represented by positive characters.

And the one behind the mine scene. The writer's black humor.
