The Face of Morale The satirical comedy is about the double standards of moralists. This is the International Organization for the Public Morality. Alberto Sordi brilliantly plays the role of a young and overly assertive general secretary, Vittorio De Sica - a wisely experienced president of this organization, which considers itself holier than the papacy.
Professional moralists struggle with the naked female body in nightclubs, in movies and on advertising posters. But if you take in a broader sense, then with the help of the so-called “society of mothers”, these gentlemen can stop the work of the billiards and cafes, destroy the career of a film actress, stop the promotion of a new product to the market. And the temptation to use such a powerful weapon for selfish purposes.
I’m sure the actors had a lot of fun doing this movie. Sordi and De Sica grimace with great enthusiasm, take eccentric poses and openly enjoy playing moralists.
History itself will never become obsolete, but no one has learned from it. It is always more profitable to forbid than to allow.
