A rare European film with an international team and in English. So rare that it is only present online as a very bad VHS rip. I only watched it for one reason: it seemed to me that the subject of mercenaries in the African wars was very interesting to me. Well, technically, it really is - but the African part takes, God forbid, 5 minutes at the beginning.
The main character, who fought for several years as a commander of a detachment somewhere in hot countries (probably in the Congo), is forced after the end of the civil war (one of the last fights will show us), to look for a new continent to earn money. He went to Brazil, where he was hired by a private security company. He faces the task of organizing the protection of mines in remote regions of the country, control over which is contested by local bandits. The bandits are very harsh and well-armed, they do not even hesitate to stage terrorist attacks against civilians to intimidate the administration. Such people understand only very weighty arguments of large caliber. It’s a great job, in general.
In spirit, the film is a kind of modern Western about the “cowboys of the 20th century”. Instead of horses – jeeps and land-rovers, instead of revolvers – assault rifles and grenades. In fact, it was exactly how [spaghetti] westerns were created, obviously, and they, in general, succeeded. A curious rarity, connoisseurs should see.
