Perhaps the name of the director Raymond Bernard will not tell you anything. He did not receive any prizes from festivals or in the Alley of Stars. It's all true. And yet, he's a good director. Where does that come from? Watch his latest movie, The Electric Widow, and you’ll see what I mean. Cinema, to be objective, to the rank of great will not join the bustle, but to see this picture is worth it. Firstly, because it plays the charming Daniel Darieux, and secondly, because it is a very good comedy.
In the debut of the film we see a blonde almost Balzac age with a ponytail. She is cheerful, mobile and very rich. It means that our heroine Brigitte comes to the meeting of the fathers of the city and other powerful and without blinking an eye counts out millions to help the Negroes. I wonder where she got that money from? The lady owns a beer salon. Got rich on beer in general. Do you believe that? Well, then it's not worth watching. But if you dig deeper, it's not that simple with this mamsel. Oh, that's not easy.
And when you find yourself in her house, with her faithful Sancho Panzo Lainstridge, you will discover many interesting things. Of course, what they will do violates all norms of law and morality. It's a comedy, don't forget. The way to make money and acquire wealth is interesting. All this ugliness is accompanied by honed filigree dialogues. You will not roll with homeric laughter and will not tear your stomach with laughter, but the subtle ironic humor between the lines, or rather between frames, definitely glib. In this entertaining story there will be a place for the hero Alberto Sordi. True, it is not as starry and wide, but narrow as a snap in a hastily made fence. Yeah, Alberto can't do all his best jokes and things and entertain us. The electric widow rules here. Daniel Darjeu is perfect for the role. And it works on conscience, the mosquito won't blow your nose. The film left a pleasant feeling and aftertaste, given the natural ending.
