The law of boomerang always works. Yoo-hoo! It's done! I finally waited for the voice of this film. Five years ago I wanted to see it, according to the filmography of Anila Kapoor, but it was then without translation. Then subtitles appeared, but it is also not convenient to watch such an eventful film, reading subtitles, distracting from the actions of the characters. I don't like to look like that. And yesterday, quite by chance, I found this film on one site with voiceover, and of course immediately watched it.
The film is in the style of Western, very full of events, characters, music, actions. And it is not for nothing that I have been waiting for his voiceover for so many years, oh no wonder (by the way, I found there 5 more films also formerly with subtitles, and recently voiced, which I have long been hanging on the list for viewing with voiceovers, all of them noted to myself, I will start watching urgently in the coming days).
This story reminded me of the blockbuster of all time, Revenge and the Law, a lot of similarities. The same two main characters, only not Jai and Viru, but Karan and , the same main bandit who killed their parents in childhood, the same two main characters, the lovers of the main characters. Only now Thakur the village turned out to be a very vicious and cruel man. The differences are significant.
The events of the film "Fire" acquaint viewers with the heroes in whose life there was a tragedy. As a child, they were both orphaned by a bandit. Jogi Thakur, greedy and cruel, dealt with the family Karana and did it right before his eyes. He left the boy alive, believing that he could not interfere with his criminal plans. Another boy - Daru Accomplice Jogi Thakura, Raja Singh simply took from the family and threw him on the way to the gates of the wandering circus, predetermining the fate of the boy. Karana found a poor fisherman in the forest and raised him as his son. A Daru was raised by the director of the circus, and made him a circus performer.
The boys had only to mourn their fate and accumulate anger in their hearts. They dreamed of getting rid of the man who killed their parents. This revenge fed the guys for twenty years, and now, finally, they managed to get closer to their cherished goal.
Takur’s partner, Raja Singh, deceives him and escapes with all the booty, Jogi is arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. Years later, Jogi escapes from prison to kill Raju and take his loot, but learns that he has become a big and influential man, a cruel landowner, the owner of several villages. And for the very Jogi a reward of 50 thousand rupees was appointed. When Karan learns that Jogi has escaped, he goes in search of him. At first, the guys didn’t get along, everyone wanted to destroy this bastard himself. But after several clashes with the bandits, they became friends and decided to unite in the search and capture of the main bandit.
In general, the story is very interesting and rich. I read that the director of this film, a big fan of the great "Revenge and the Law" and was very inspired by him, deciding to make his film with a similar story. And the characters in some way echo those characters.
Anil Kapoor (Karan), so young here still, handsome, slender, and as always bright and flawless in the performance of his role. His character was closer to me, and resembled the behavior of Jaya (hero Amitabh Bachchan) from "Revenge and Law". The same is silent, reasonable, does everything first carefully thinking . This parallel is very noticeable. In a couple, he got Minakshi Sheshadri (Mangla), also a silent and reasonable village girl (like the heroine Jai Bhaduri, Radha, and that film). Minakshi and Anil were very complementary to each other, and both young and beautiful.
The second actor, Sunny Deol (Gift), also young and attractive, very reminiscent of Viru (the character Dharmendra, although probably not for nothing, still almost the character of his father, performed). The facial expression and appearance of the character he plays are almost identical, although Sunny does give the film its charm. He's great in comic scenes and proves he does have a penchant for comedy. The same broken, talkative, smile from the face did not go down, he also hung after the girls. But, considering that his hero, a circusman, was at the same time very nimble, agile and accurate in shooting. He got a pair of Sridevi (Gulabo), although at first seeing her in the credits, I thought that she would be paired with Anil, as in many films of those years. But, no, it was paired with Sunny. Her character was very reminiscent of Basanti (the heroine Hema Malini from "Revenge and the Law"). The same restless, mischievous, chatter-laugher, and even a dancer of a wandering troupe of artists. He and Sunny also looked good together.
But the main bandit, did not like it. It’s a superb and disgusting character. If in "Revenge and Law", the main bandit Gabbar Singh (performed by Amjad Khan), was an evil, cruel and ruthless scumbag, but at the same time looked good and it was pleasant to look at, then here this (Rajesh Vivek, first saw this actor), >>>>> His long furry hair, little angry eyes, nasty smile with black rotten teeth, and the disgusting grin of a half-crazy, just repulsive. I should have picked up an actor like that. In general, all bandits are some terrible and unpleasant, with various kinds of ugliness on their faces. Yes, and turned out to be this Jogy, in fact, quite stupid.
And Thakur also turned out to be a disgusting character (not to compare it with Thakur from Revenge, performed by Sanjiva Kumar, who was a kind and decent person who experienced a lot of pain and suffering). Here Kulbhushan Kharbanda performed it beautifully, you hate it from the first seconds of appearing on the screen. How he hated all the poor in his villages, how he intimidated and humiliated them in every way.
The first half of the film moves at an excellent pace and retains a certain amount of sharpness. In the second half, the heat increases. Sunny with Anil, A very bright and strong male duo. The performance and chemistry of their duo are great.
In general, the film is interesting, western. Fans Anila Kapoor and Sunny Deola to watch, they are both damn good here
