Corpses and preaching An interesting and seemingly successful attempt to cross the theme of satanic offspring popularized by Omen with slashy motifs gaining momentum. As for the latter, the film has another, much more prosaic title, “The Massacre at the Reunion,” but it does not fit here at all – it narrows the topic too much. The local murderer destroys the people not because of some banal personal hostility, but because of his “chosen by higher forces to perform retribution for life in sin.” Like that. This is not schizophrenia, but a true fact. The plot is actually quite dark, there are a lot of gaps, but nevertheless, this creative religious and mythological superstructure over the seemingly banal urine just touches. Or maybe there is even a thought... criticism of church morality and religious fanaticism, for example?
Episodes of the mochilov himself are not that very impressive, but invented and filmed undoubtedly with taste, and the sought-after protagonist-the Redeemer looks terribly attractive. In addition to the fact that is obviously a good actor, in the course of the action, he also theatrically tries on various costumes-images, which adds to the film a certain pleasant surrealism (of course, the most spectacular was the option with a clown mask that decorated a chic scene in the shower). In the arsenal of the chosen one there is a gun, a sword and - yes, baby! - a flamethrower. And most importantly, the Redeemer magically knows how to revive the second key feature of the film – a solid puppet doll, which sometimes helps him to make the right trial of sinners. Mysticism, that's all. Strange and memorable, like the whole movie.
Definitely, and considering the year of creation, even original. Something elusive picks up from the first minutes and then does not let you get bored, unless of course you try to look for logic in the actions of “meat”. But you need to follow the screen carefully, there are no unnecessary scenes in the film, so it is possible to slap something important, and there and the ending do not penetrate.
