What is injustice and can it be dealt with? It's a wonderful movie. Very lifelike, truthful, with really possible situations, logical development of the plot and a beautiful acting. Filled with injustice, not the one that beats the fountain in the films of the 90s and demands revenge, but the one that is present in our lives every day, when scammers beat up honest and decent people, not even because the average citizen is stupid, but simply because an ordinary person is used to trusting his neighbors, can not show rudeness to an unfamiliar woman, politely, and therefore sees the same qualities in others. It is incredibly painful and hurtful when you realize that you were tricked, cheated, considered a sucker, and now they also laugh in your face, confident of their impunity, since they made straws in dangerous places in advance, because this scheme has already been tried on several dozen other simpletons. And how hurtful can it be if your own family suddenly turns its back on you instead of supporting you in such a difficult situation, believes the evil slanders of these same swindlers who stole you? Personally, it was very difficult for me to watch the film precisely because of the huge sympathy for the main character, since not so long ago I also found myself in a similar situation when the opposite side has everything according to the law, and you can only watch in impotent rage without money and realize that there is nothing you can do about it. But my loved ones were with me, and the main character also had those who were supposed to be there at that moment and help at least a word, turned away from him, causing even more pain. It’s easy to be around in joy and wealth, but in difficult times, not everyone wants to share your problems. It is incredibly sad to look at the efforts of the main character: it seems that he just got out of one of life’s troubles, adjusted everything, provided everyone around and was happy with fate, as a new attack, a new deception, a new life collapse is on you.
The actors all play great. Firstly, in this film, Sanjeev Kumar showed the whole range of emotions: from the abyss of disappointment to the volcano of rage, while never falsifying and not crushing, remaining within the framework of complete realism. Personally, I believed him every minute. Secondly, the beautiful Charmila Tagore, who showed us a different kind of change: from the sweet and innocent girl at the beginning to the broken and brazen prostitute, who seems to have nothing at all, at the end. At the same time, there was a desperate woman who was ready to kill herself because of her husband’s abuse, and a woman-friend who was ready to help someone with whom she had once been associated with feelings, and a suffering mother who was unable to give her child a name and honor. Beautiful in every frame, whether with tears in his eyes or with fervent sparkles during joyful moments. Many actors here performed not quite in their usual roles, which additionally gave the charm to the picture. Strict and domineering mother performed by Dina Pathak, not a bit of a comedic role of the brother of the main character performed by Asrani, an energetic and astute lawyer who knows how to notice important little things and show the absurdity of the claims of the complainants, played by Raza Murad. Even Yogita Bali did not irritate her soft and sluggish energy, here her “cow” devotion in the eyes was very appropriate and played on the correct perception of the character. And yet another villain from Madana Puri came out such that even a brother would be jealous: brazen, confident, cunning and mean. And how calm in the moments of exposure, which angered the most: how scoundrels manage to behave as if nothing happened, when suffering unfolds before them and they see the life destroyed as a result of their actions? There is no hesitation, no remorse, only a smile and your own superiority. For me, this is one of his best roles in terms of the power of influence and emotions he feels towards his character.
Once again, the film is very vital, so there are no fights or large-scale dance numbers, and musical compositions and one dance are organically interwoven into the canvas of the narrative. I read that the film is a remake of a Bengali film, and they always faithfully and honestly reflect the surrounding reality, without overdoing the spices as in South Indian and without adding excessive fire as in Hindi. All these advantages were carefully preserved and transferred to the realities of another state. I looked in one day, although I had to stop several times for a short time, when my heart could not withstand indignation, but I could not break away for a long time, it was interesting, well, what is there next, how the hero will cope with this, will the villains be punished, will the deception be revealed?! A very good film, shot in the same manner as his famous "Devotion": soft storytelling, truthfulness and realism. One of the best I've seen lately.
