Music & nbsp;— is the mood. The music — is a story. A for Findley Crawford — this is murder. The latest episodes of Lieutenant Colombo were a tribute to Peter Falk. It was not the actor himself who drew his eyes to what was happening, but his surroundings. The way the people around him treated Lieutenant Colombo, with what love and respect. Yes, sometimes the actors overplay and it starts to feel like a fan meeting, but I can’t blame them for it. I would probably do the right thing myself if I had the chance to see Peter Falk. Alas, but this is not possible, and therefore the only thing that remains is to pay tribute to the great actor once again reviewing this film series.
And this time, the story revolves around an aging composer whose best years are already far behind him and he himself is not able to create something truly worthwhile, but those around him do not know about it. The fact is that Findlay Crawford uses the music of his young and eccentric student, Gabrielle McEnery, for which he receives love, recognition, and at the same time an Oscar. That’s just a young student such a situation does not suit, and who would like it? Gabriel wants to tell everyone that he is the author of music, and Findlay Crawford is an old man who is no longer capable of anything. Such words upset the famous composer, so much so that he kills a young man, making it look like Gabriel fell from a roof and crashed. And nothing, but too much evidence to indicate that the deceased not just fell from the roof, he was killed. Well, since we are talking about murder, then here appears Lieutenant Colombo on his car, the sounds of approaching which can be heard for a few blocks. Well, Mr. Crawford, apparently, you still have to leave the stage changing the coat to the prison robe or not?
In fact, it doesn’t matter how the investigation is conducted, because it was safely sidelined, for the simple reason that Peter Falk in this film already looked irrelevant and played half-heartedly. Based on this, it was decided to devote the lion’s share of screen time to the hero of Billy Connolly – Findley Crawford, a man who lives music and is ready to tell about it to both Lieutenant Colombo and the viewer. And it will not be a boring lecture, it will be an expressive and exciting journey into the world of both classical music and compositions from famous movies. What exactly I will not say, so as not to spoil the surprise, but I can say with confidence – you know them. You know, even if the movies that played the music passed you by. Knows this music and Colombo, and because part of the film he is not so much conducting an investigation as playing charades with the hero Connolly, and also sings. Yes, singing Colombo and previously could be seen in the series, but usually he did it in proud loneliness, here he sings with everyone and such scenes can not but cause smiles.
Actually, there is nothing more to add. A charming criminal who never loses the presence of spirit and looks at what is happening with a slight smile. Not a cynical grin, as many of his colleagues in the genre did, namely a smile. Perhaps the point here is that Billy Connolly does not play the role of bad guys and he always played eccentric, but still kind, or maybe it is in the very image of the composer, but when watching this series somehow I do not even want Findley Crawford to be caught. Yes, a scoundrel and a scoundrel, but a damned charming scoundrel and a scoundrel. Yes, of course, there were other actors in the film, but they didn’t remember much. Okay, flashed a couple of times on the screen, and fine. Nevertheless, the series turned out to be very warm and friendly and if you are looking for a film that could cheer you up, then pay attention to Murder by Notes, it may very well be that you will like it.
