The second experimental episode about the adventures of a man for six million dollars turned out to be quite different from the pilot. The first film was like science fiction with a strong bias toward realism. A detailed description of all the processes taking place, the experience and development of the characters, all this is no longer here. Is that bad? No!
After all, the new film is a mixture of James Bond, American pathos and cranberries. In fact, everything here is copied from 007, but only with a prefix cooler, according to the writers. The protagonist is not just a charming secret agent, he is also a former pilot who visited the moon, a superfast and super strong half-man, half-cyborg. According to the canon of the genre of spy detective, women here quickly fall in love with the main character, villains sell atomic weapons, and Russians, unexpectedly, are good. There are a lot of fun conversations here:
Alexei, I did not know that you Russians are paid enough for such a holiday.
- This is because you Americans believe in your own propaganda.
The plot revolves around the black market of nuclear weapons (yes, this is a direct quote from the film). A businessman is suspected of having a catalogue of stolen weapons, through which he sells an arsenal to the countries of the Middle East. In the course of the investigation, the true scale of weapons is revealed, underground bases, atomic bombs, secret substances are located. The script is actually beautiful, all the most thrashing from the world of spy fighters collected here. What a finale! I wanted to laugh and clap, so it fits perfectly into the local plot.
This time all the abilities of the hero are revealed and shown very well. Colonel Austin uses all his skills one hundred percent. With his hands he tears the skin of the boat, with his feet he breaks through the concrete wall, and in the dark, a night vision device is turned on on on his mechanical eye:
How can you see where to go in the dark?
- I ate a lot of carrots!
If you completely turn off the brain and enjoy the madness of what is happening, then the film should appeal to almost any viewer. The lack of explicit propaganda in the film, a large number of jokes and a variety of events work well together, helping the viewer to plunge into the atmosphere of spy intrigues and super villains.
