20th Anniversary of Survivor Series The annual show, the feature of which is team matches between the top wrestlers of the company, celebrated its fourth anniversary very confused. No wonder, WWE at that time was at the top of the sports entertainment industry, destroying all possible more or less well-known competitors. In this regard, the quality of wrestling has seriously decreased in order to avoid unnecessary injuries and simply the absence of serious competition. Unless TNA was breathing down the back of her head, but her breath was always far away. At that time, WWE tried to revive the ECW brand, smoothly moving to the PG format, but, as we remember, did not grow together. But the wrestlers of the new ECW were able to dilute the matches, which we will talk about now. In addition, it was at Survivor Series 2006 that the debut match took place on the big show of SM Punk himself. Here’s a reason to see it...
1 fight: A team of WWE legends (Rick Fleur, Sergeant Slater and Dusty Rhodes) against a team of cheerleaders (Kenny, Johnny, Nicky and Mickey) in the classic "Survivor Series" team fight on elimination.
It’s hard to say anything specific about this match. WWE legends to knowledgeable people should speak for themselves. For the most part, the old people are no longer able to show a decent fight, so everything was based on the fans of the old school and several signature techniques in their performance. That's basically what happened. The high-octane spectacle did not work, the legends were merged quite quickly. The only "but" - very pleased Rick Fleur, pulled the ending, and his team out of complete despondency. Even in his years, he is well kept in the ring and is able to start a crowd. Only because of him, you can watch the match without complete despondency in your eyes. By the way, if you look at the young guys, you can probably guess that one of them is the young Dolph Ziegler himself.
2 bout: Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerro for the U.S. title
Great match, in my humble opinion. I liked how much aggression there was in each kick of Chris. Chavo, unfortunately, also did not please, neither flashing charisma, nor showing normal wrestling. But it's not that scary, because Benoit dragged it all alone. Even Vicki, swarming outside the ring, didn't make much of an impact on the outcome. Benoit also had a great ending. His expression in one moment is unforgettable.
3 bout: Lita vs Mickey James for WWE title
The match was for some reason thoughtful and slow. I don’t know whose fault it was, but the wrestlers didn’t coordinate their movements, which was terrible. The funny thing is that the crowd at this moment amused themselves, actively booing Lita with the chants of “Hoe...” However, the most interesting thing happened in the segment before this fight and what happened after it. In a word, the guys on the Crime Time team were selling Lita's underwear to the crowd. Yes, it was savage and tactless, but it would not have happened without her consent + she resigned with a hill, and let her be humiliated for what she said to the crowd. In my opinion, it was funny in terms of the show.
Fight 4: classic "Survivor Series" team elimination match - DX (Triple H, Sean Michaels, SM Punk and the Hardy Brothers) against Randy Orton, Age, John Morrison, Mike Knox and Gregory Helms
Definitely the best match on the show. The best concept, the best combination of fighters, the best choice of opponents. The guys from DX lit up the crowd perfectly and showed a lot of classic, combined and simply impressive techniques. Shawn and Paul were especially pleased with the usual DX compressions. Of course, there could have been more Punk and a little bit of drama, but in terms of entertainment, everything turned out well. Salute.
5 fight: Kennedy vs. Undertaker - before the first blood
Good match. I loved the opening video, especially the bloody rain. The fight itself was a little less satisfying, mainly because Kennedy doesn’t look convincing with the Undertaker in the ring. Whether experience affects, or skill is not very clear. The undertaker, as always, was good. Push at that time for Kennedy was not clear to me personally. On the other hand, the outcome of the match was a little upset, but the ending itself redeemed everything. I loved it.
Fight 6: classic "Survivor Series" team elimination match - teams Shaw (Big Show, Test, Umaga, Finley and MVP) and Cena (John Cena, Bobby Lashley, Kane, Sabu and Rob Van Dam)
Probably the most confused and confusing of all PPV matches. Everything happened too slowly, too quickly, some were not even given a chance to show themselves in the ring, which makes Sabu, Rob Van Dam, MVP, Kane and Test seem superfluous and incomprehensible that they forgot in this fight. This is frustrating, because the feeling that their time was running out, and had to do without many bright moments, because the set of wrestlers is very promising. But instead of a good hardcore fight in the ECW tradition, the pile is small, pointless and ruthlessly unimpressive. Slightly stretched the ending, but with a set of such fighters, it was just terribly predictable. Unfortunately, there was no normal spectacle. Personally, I spent most of my time in total misunderstanding - what did it just happen?
7 fight: Booker Tee vs Batista for world title
A mediocre, slow, unforgettable fight. It would seem that Booker T, the world champion of the WCW will be able to show something interesting, especially with a young and promising wrestler. In addition, judging by the first segments, this is not their first joint fight. But something must have gone wrong. I didn't notice any aggression or chemistry between the two men. By the middle, I didn’t care so much that I squandered the rest of the match on the bright moments, just couldn’t stand the end. Unsuccessful completion for monthly big WWE show
Well, we found out that the anniversary of the Survivor Series went without a light. Almost mediocre, except for a couple of highlights like The Undertaker, DX, the sale of funds against intimate lice Lita, Chris Benoit and Rick Fleur, who still have not forgotten how to light the crowd. Moving on to next year and hopefully Survivor Series 2007 will be better.
