Cybernetics Guardian—The Cybernetic Guardian, the Spiritual Heir to Janesaber. Koichi Ohata is certainly one of the most amazing Japanese directors, who at one time gave us such anime as Dangerous Geist Part II: Deadly Force and Genosiber. But, unfortunately, the author was known more as a thrash director, his work is full of cruelty and violence, and the plot is sometimes simply absent. After watching some of his creations, I concluded that in the career of the director there were not only ups, but also downs. One of these falls was the Cybernetic Guardian, so to speak, the directorial debut, from which Genoseiber will later inherit much. And yes, if you suddenly say that the Guardian and Genosiber are something similar, then you can not go wrong, but you will not be 100% right. Genoseiber was released in 1994, while the guard appeared in 1987. It is fair to say that the guardian is more of the spiritual heritage of Genosiber. Genosiber tells the story of two twin sisters, Diana and Elaine, who combined their minds into one physical body to create a mechanical god who destroys humanity for all its sins, this very god became the object of worship of adepts of a religious cult who awaited judgment day. The Cybernetic Guardian also has a similar plot - we are told about a mechanical god named Soldo, a doomsday weapon that came to our world to cleanse it of people, in the Cybernetic Guard there is also a religious cult that worships an ancient deity, in addition, there is a certain elect, in whose body the demon god himself is imprisoned.
Design:
The drawing does not cause any delight. It is ordinary - gray tones, dark streets, gloomy caves ... Although the faces of the characters and tried to be similar to the European – American, managed to realize it with a great stretch. The design itself merges in the first minutes, and does not get better throughout the viewing.
Music:
This is more interesting because I am a huge fan of rock and heavy metal. I'm a full-blown keep! Fight scenes, and not only, were accompanied by fucking explosive reefs and no less cool vocal parts. Honestly, I sympathize with absolutely all the songs and this time I decided not to choose favorites, but to let you hear everything at once. It was hard because I didn’t find any official information about OST, but I managed to get the next version of the album. I hope metal lovers appreciate it.
Atmosphere:
The near future, urbanism with an admixture of cyberpunk, thereby making Cyber-Wood really a city of the future, there is nothing more to add.
Issues:
I do not think that the anime carries any problems, yes, there are small references to religion, but all this is very subtle, and I do not think that it is worth focusing on this at all, because it is primarily an action movie.
Conclusion:
The anime turned out to be ambiguous, well, this is not surprising, because this is one of the earliest works of Koiti Ohata. I won’t say that it turned out very bad, but calling it a good language also does not turn. Yes, there were some moments I would praise the Cybernetics Guardian for, but mostly it's a poorly-directed film that emphasizes not plot or drawing, the battle scenes are short and not memorable. Um, so what is a Cyber Sentinel? It's an ordinary action movie with robots and blood. Although I speak extremely negatively about the Cyber Guardian, I can note its charm, but there is something about it. As for animation, I would put it on the lowest level and not discuss it at all. Another thing is the music that melted my icy heart and filled it with new notes of explosive madness. Now let’s try to answer the most important question, is the guardian the spiritual heir of Genoseiber? Yes, it is, but to appear only partially, there is practically no story or plot, which could not be said about Genosiber. Also incomprehensible motivation of the main characters, and some moments were honestly copied one into one, but we understand that this anime came out before Genosyver, so it’s more of a trifle. If you asked me if you should watch this anime, I would say exactly what it is worth, especially since it is not so long - only 40 minutes, which can ideally kill your time when there is nothing to do in the country or in pairs at uni.
