Lost splendor In 1965, the American actor Sean Flynn felt an acute need for income, and therefore returned to the world of cinema. I must say that the son of the legendary lyceum Errol Flynn inherited from the well-known father not only external charm, but also a swinging adventurous streak that pushes to dangerous enterprises. Working as a guide on an African safari and a forester in Kenya, of course, allowed you to get enough of the necessary adrenaline emissions - only the contents of the wallet left much to be desired. Had a risky young man to go already tried creative way, if such can be called two roles in the growing popularity of Italian-Spanish westerns, the creators of which according to the emerging tradition wanted to see in the foreground a foreign person.
One of these "spaghetti" was the film "Seven magnificent with guns", the name of which deftly refers to the acclaimed "The Magnificent Seven" by John Sturges, but in fact, there are few common places in these paintings. Except for a couple of moments, the craft of the Italian director Romolo Guerrieri, who later shot something really curious, is a stupid and rather clumsily submitted comedy-adventure story of a gang of diverse characters united against a gang of caricature villain performed (well, of course!) by the eternal mustachio-sweet “Mexican” Fernando Sancho. Caricature here, however, almost everything that in itself is normal with a humorous approach, but it is very stupidly implemented. Can’t a real, well-furnished fun be limited to a couple of good jokes?
I came because I am the greatest Sancho Rodriguez and I am the greatest. . I've already said that.
The individual characteristics of the characters, each of whom is able to shine with his inherent skill, as well as the interaction of six characters with the difficult young man Timothy, played by Flynn, are shown fragmented and indistinctly, clouded by one gray stupid background. To be fair, we can single out Daniel Martin, who appears in the image of a typical “mysterious silent shooter”, and the grandfather of the main character, who is really very funny. In addition, the widely available version of the picture is reduced by 15 or even 20 minutes from the original, which significantly reduces the possibility of its objective evaluation. But it is doubtful that these precious minutes put into place will make another fable about the seven arrows truly magnificent. That’s what happens when it’s done for the sake of hacking.
P.S.Four years after filming "7 magnifiche pistole" Flynn Jr. will disappear into the jungles of Cambodia, as an extreme photographer, going to communicate with the unfriendly Khmer Rouge. It is not a funny fact, as well as the fact that this formally cheerful picture from the actor’s small track record is hardly a good monument to his, albeit small, talent.
