Like everyone else. They are a couple from the UK who have their own history with postcards, phantom photos, left over from the joint adventures of “falling in love”.
They have the same problems as ordinary couples: full-bodied, deception, difference of worldviews and so on. And the same rash solutions to these problems: substances, “hangs”, scandals. They are helped by mutual friends who are loyal to one of them, but nothing can hide the discord. You have to deal with it yourself.
Beak My Fall is a thematic film that can not be called an “art house”, it is “indie”, as the actors themselves report in their interviews. It's not a romantic melodrama. This is a drama-narrative, touching on a short period of time (3 days), during which we observe the actual development of events, the culmination of the overall story, the rest of which remains outside the framework of the film.
Therefore, in order not to retell the plot, I will simply note the problems that are affected: “informal” relationships and love, gender relations, relationship crisis, jealousy, creative crisis, cultural crisis and cultural deviations, addiction of various types (smoking, drug addiction...), mutual help and friendship, the problem of choice and self-determination.
A word about actresses. They are not the stars of British cinema, and their journey is just beginning. For the sincere and purposeful Cat Redstone, most of his career is connected with the theater. Ambitious Sophie Anderson has not thought of her life without acting since she was 6. Their game can not be called brilliant, but you can – high-quality, soulful and open.
As for the other components of the film: musical design, camera work, etc., they are difficult to evaluate in the context of this genre and direction, since there are no prescribed frameworks and clichés. However, it is worth noting that watching the film is pleasant and comfortable, without unnecessary “twitching” and “distortion”.
Conclusion: watch the movie is not worth the haters of “punk romance” and “unconventional love”, the rest – very much advise.
