Phantom past. Filmmaker Johan Löfstedt and historian Bruur Jacques de Vaerne about the organization Conspiracy 58 (CSP 58), founded by de Vaerne in 1959 and existing to this day. According to de Waern, the 1958 World Cup did not exist in Sweden and the organization is fighting to make sure the truth comes out. The film was shown on Swedish state television in 2002 before the start of the next World Cup.
A sensation! A sensation!! A sensation!!!
The World Cup 58 was not actually held in Sweden, and under the auspices of FIFA and the CIA was held on the other side of the world - in North America. It would seem that before us is the disclosure of one of the greatest deceptions of the last century. Moreover, the evidence of Herr De Waerne at first glance can at least cause doubt. For half a century, he squandered mountains of archival materials and even studied the wind speed, the size of the shadows and the height of the grass in the stadiums. And beyond the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, there were no such buildings! And why, in the end, the German goalkeeper laughs when Lidholm scores in his goal?
“Conspiracy 58” is actually nothing more than a pseudo-documentary tape (mocumentary), the purpose of which is to demonstrate to the viewer how historical revisionism (in particular, denial of the Holocaust) can work and emphasize the importance of criticizing sources in obtaining information from, for example, the media. However, people who watched Konspiration 58 on Swedish TV for the first time did not have the slightest doubt about the truth and reality of what is happening on the screen. The more so that in the frame so skillfully "played" the most respected people in the country - acting at the time UEFA President Lennart Johansson, sitting in a cozy apartment against the background of a carpet with his own image, the legends of Swedish football (including Kurt Hamrin himself), popular in the country journalists and respected historian De Vaern.
Artful deception, if you will - a fantasy on a topic that is unlikely to leave indifferent even a person far from the world of football.
Good to see you, dear friends! Try to imagine what would happen if...
