America; late 40s of XX century
Ellen (Lucille Ball) is a stupid, but very kind cutie, the niece of the judge, wants to be independent, because she graduated from the courses of stenographers, but in this case she is full of incompetence and generally a ridiculously clumsy girl.
Dick Richmond (William Holden) - owner of a real estate company, behind which a brokerage company is hiding; hires Ellen as a secretary, because she, in his opinion, is stupid and will not get into business / I mean, will not guess about the illegal activities of the boss /
Peggy (Janice Carter) – a rich widow, former mistress of Dick, wants to get him back and conduct his criminal activities with him.
Timothy / James Gleeson / and Mr. Kilcoin
Frank McHugh - Dick's assistants and partners, gentle men who just want to make money without strain
The story is that a person who is absolutely inept at one thing may have talents at another, completely unexpected to him. And Ellen, who was hired to stay out of the firm, found her talent there: listening to people, helping them, and even negotiating with suppliers, partners, and other partners necessary for a successful business.
I can’t call this film a hilarious comedy, but it’s cute, funny, some situations are really funny, although some scenes seem a little underdeveloped or cut off on half-frame.
In the lead role here Lucille Ball and her game she outshines, in my opinion, everyone: and the beautiful Janice Carter, and the charm of William Holden. A kind of benefit comedy actress turned out, with her signature facial expressions and expanding / worth noting, always exclusively for the place! / eyes. I was well rested while watching and decided to sit down soon for the series “I love Lucy”.
