Frontier Gal is a 1945 film by Technicolor Western directed by Charles Lamont.
How to correctly translate it into Russian and did not understand - probably the best fit "Provincial girl".
Johnny Hart (Rod Cameron) arrives in a place called Red Gulch, in search of the killer of his companion. There, he meets Laurina De Carlo, a charming saloon owner who is adored by Blackie (Sheldon Leonard), a jealous crook who does not like Laurina’s interest in Johnny.
After Johnny doesn’t succumb to Lorina’s charms, under the pretext that he already has a girlfriend, an angry Lorina at gunpoint forces him to marry herself. She turns him in to the sheriff after learning that Johnny is wanted and a bounty has been placed on his head. Johnny escapes, spends a night of passion with Loreena and then surrenders to authorities.
After six years in prison, Johnny returns to Red Beam with a thirst for revenge. He now knows that Blackie killed his companion. Upon arrival, he is surprised to learn that he and Loreena have a five-year-old daughter, Mary-Anne (Beverly Simmons). Blackie takes the girl hostage, but Johnny kills him and reunites with grateful Laurina and their child.
The film was originally intended to star Maria Montez and Rod Cameron. But Maria Montez refused to shoot. She was replaced by Yvonne De Carlo, who had just finished filming The Salome She Danced. Yvonne De Carlo claims Maria Montez turned down the role because she did not want to work with Rod Cameron and play the mother of a little girl. De Carlo wrote that "the studio knew that I would accept any (even negative) role that would be offered, and would gladly accept to play at least the mother of seven dwarves."
The film does not pull on a full-fledged western, more like a comedy melodrama with elements of a musical.
Yvonne De Carlo will not let you get bored - three musical numbers, like no other.
Most of all, I liked the scenes with Johnny Hart and his daughter Mary-Anne, so cute - until I saw anything like this in American film classics.
I recommend watching the movie even if you don’t know English.
