Two U.S. Cavalry lieutenants Larry Knight and Phil Acton vie for the hand and heart of Fort Chief Kitty's daughter. She chooses Larry, who has a brilliant career, and leaves for St. Louis after announcing their engagement. The sudden appearance of the hostess of the saloon Laura, with whom Larry falls in love, stirs up passions.
Starting as a quite typical cavalry western in the course of the plot reveals quite Shakespearean passions. Fatal woman Laura breaks the idyll. Broken friendship, lust, revenge, hatred, shattered dreams and hopes. The conflict reaches a climax in Indian territory.
The film brought together two young, at the time, promising actors Guy Madison and Rory Calhoun. In the foreground, there is more Madison, quite at the level of playing Larry Knight, who under the influence of flared passion staked his brilliant future. Rory Calhoun plays a friend of Larry Phil in the background. And the fateful lady Carol Matthews plays in contrast with the pure and innocent Katie Downs.
Overall, a memorable film. Such a western with a noir flavor and a great touch of melodrama. Well, young Calhoun and Madison is interesting to see.
