Raw lash... Sometimes a man has to take risks! That's how you make money in the West.
If most westerns are essentially action films, this one is more of a drama about pastoral life. There is a lot of jumping and talking, but little shooting and fighting (which, at least, for this genre is important). And this despite the fact that the plot (about the confrontation of a loner with the association of cattle breeders) was very promising. But you need intrigue and dynamism, and that's a little tight. No, Charles in the role of a harsh husband and father, of course interesting, but one charisma, as they say, will not go far. Maybe the topic of cattle breeders does not contribute to this? So the same “raw wool”, looks a hundred times more interesting.
And everything seems to be there. And the cast is all star — Bronson, Lee Cobb, Kennedy. But we didn't. Bronson, of course, had the best hope, but he's mostly dealing with family issues. As a result, everything slides into a banal TV drama, which it is in fact (the film is made up of pieces of the series “Virginian” and is very inept). So, no matter how you spin, and it seems that you will not jump above your head (although the Devil’s Arrows could do this). You can see that the creators lacked talent. Therefore, all this looks now, again, only thanks to the participation of the legendary Bronson.
