Return This is not the first time British director Anthony Harvey has worked with the famous American actress Catherine Hepburn. This is the fourth film in which he directed the only four-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress. Once just for her role in the cult film “The Lion in Winter” 1968, this director Hepburn received her third Oscar. Then she starred in Harvey’s “Glass Menagerie” (a very deep and sad drama) and in the light, criminal comedy “Grace Quigley”.
1994 was the last year in which Catherine continued to play in a big movie. This year she played in three films, and this one was one of them. Harvey puts a kind melodrama with a taste of comedy called “This Can’t Be Love”, and Catherine Hepburn becomes the heart of this television picture.
We see the story of two elderly people, Marion and Michael, who once had love, but life has divided them. Many years later, in old age, fate brought them back together again, but the resentment of the main character is too strong on him, and not everything is so easy. The most interesting thing is that the heroes are brought together by the young assistant of Marion herself and the granddaughter of Michael. Marion is a well-known person who many people love, and she is not a simple person. While Michael tried to do everything to Marion forgave him, feelings also flared up between the young heroes.
This movie is kind and sweet. It looks like a smile. The picture is filled with something hearty and soulful. It'll be more enjoyable if you're a Hepburn fan, because it was so great to see. The scene with her and the horses or the episode in prison is incredibly funny. The way she plays is a pleasure to watch. Even in old age, Catherine has some spark and incredible charm. She was a legendary actress.
Respected Mexican actor Anthony Quinn composed the duet Hepburn in this tape, and the second roles went to the rising star Jason Bateman and Jamie Hertz (she did not succeed in the career of an actress). This film is filled with life, something charming and unimaginable in terms of a successful choice of actors. The movie is wonderful, and it was fun.
