Nice and kind story. Oh, my God, it's just a cartoon! And not an aggressive comic book, but a nice kind puppet cartoon for the little ones. The action takes place in a completely fabulous place - a small toy town Hathabedi, all the inhabitants of which are exceptionally positive people. They are friends with neighbors, come to each other’s rescue, drink only tea, and all are vegetarians. Despite power outages, communication problems and lack of other benefits of civilization, they believe in the best and enjoy life. But the neighboring town Tripola is the focus of evil, because there is a distillery there. And the people of Tripola -- oh, terrible! -- drink wine and eat grilled chicken. There's nothing worse than sin! Aren't they heroes?
And in these toy scenery get real people. First, the son of the famous actor Raj Kapoor – Rishi Kapoor, who decided to go into politics, and he needs the votes. And behind Rishi Kapoor, the crew of the film in which he is now filming is pulling up. Strangers disturb the peace of this fairy-tale place, because they are used to eating meat, drinking wine and molesting girls, the same way they behave here. Rishi Kapoor does not bother the girls, but behaves extremely arrogantly, which constantly offends the hospitable hosts. And they refer to him as a native, call him a childhood nickname "Chintu", because the guest was born on the road in Hathabedi, when Raj Kapoor and his wife were passing through.
I really liked the work of Rishi Kapoor. In general, I like him more in age roles, when he is not constrained by the romantic role, and there is an opportunity to show his comedic talent. His namesake hero turned out to be a narcissistic, arrogant, petty “star”, not taking into account the feelings of others. Especially remember the scene when his PR manager, a young girl, dreamily informs him that she fell in love. You just need to see the gamut of feelings on Risha’s face: he has no doubt that Devika is in love with him, he is flattered and would not mind taking the chance, but at the same time he does not need problems with his family, so he hypocritically refuses the girl. And when he learns that the object of sighing is not him, he quickly twists out, which he meant quite another, and takes revenge on Devika, not letting her go on a date. Great game! Just enjoying it!
I also really like when movies show the underside of filmmaking, the work of those who are left behind in films: writers, producers and others. In "Chintu Ji" this point was not ignored: ridiculed movie clichés and cliches, the whims of the stars, the imagination of the writers, the headache of the producers. I really liked the catchy song from the "film being shot" - "Akira Kurosawa" - in which a significant part of the text is occupied by listing the names of directors of world cinema. Due to the names Bertolucci, Visconti, Tarantino and others, the song sounds somehow Italian. Funny.
The only drawbacks of the film are a blurred ending when Rishi Kapoor suddenly realizes how unfairly he has treated people who love him so much. I suddenly realized it! But despite everything, the film turned out to be very kind and sweet. Really like a good old cartoon from Soviet childhood.

And in the film in a small episodic role starred Russian actress — ballerina Ksenia Ryabinkin, who starred in his time in the film Raja Kapoor “My name is the Clown”. About working with his legendary father, she talks with the hero Rishi, prompting him to desire not to drop the honor of Raj Kapoor, encouraging him to improve.
