"Bishkek..." The idea failed. Recently, I began to show a keen interest in everything related to the culture of our neighboring CIS countries: music, literature and, in particular, cinema. So recently I watched a Kyrgyz film in the style of film almanacs such as Paris, I Love You, New York, I Love You, etc. To be honest, the film turned out to be mildly “not very”: firstly, it smiled a little and surprised that the creators of Bishkek did not even bother about the title of the film and rudely tore it off from Moscow. Couldn't you have given it a Kyrgyz name, but no! That's the first drawback. Secondly, I was struck by the banality of the script and the complete lack of acting professionalism in some novels such as Dostor or With the Face of an Angel, with the Body of a Goddess. Is there not a single normal screenwriter or actor for a film of this magnitude? Shame on the creators of these masterpieces for their work.
What are these films actually promoting? A depraved lifestyle? What is the symbol of the city: shameless and unscrupulous youth, ready to sell themselves and leave abroad at the first opportunity? I disagree! The old man from the novella “Mother’s Vase” is who really symbolizes the city of Bishkek. He preserves the true values and traditions of the country and carefully transmits them to his grandson, not those young people who do not even speak Kyrgyz and do not appreciate their native country. And the guy from the novella “Bomge” symbolizes a new generation of citizens who are not indifferent to what is happening in their city and in the country as a whole.
As a result, we have a typical film about a typical city, nothing truly Kyrgyz, typical only for a country called Kyrgyzstan, we were not shown. Sorry. The idea was not bad, but how it was implemented, this is a separate conversation.
Thus,
4 out of 10
for "Mommy's Vase" and "Bomja" (for which special thanks to the creators of these film novels)
