Mexican "Dark Water" How many movies do you know under such an intriguing title? I can personally think of a couple of things. Indeed, why think hard, if you can take a loud and sonorous name with a special aura of mysticism and already in it to engender a sound human curiosity. And here we have a rather unknown Mexican film Espectro. And as you can guess, in our box office, although quite limited, this tape is called “Ghost”, although it could be translated as “Spectre”, which corresponds to the original, yes, you probably did not want to confuse with “Bondiana”, because “Spectre” is a sinister syndicate that tries to destroy the great agent of MI6, because he forever destroys their insidious plans for planetary domination. So, “Ghost” was shot by an unknown director Alfonso Pineda Ulloa according to the script of unknown screenwriters-brothers Carlos Esteban Orozco and Juan Felipe Orozco. In the genre you can not go wrong – thriller, mysticism, horror film.
And now the most famous of all this composition will be the lead singer of the Spaniard, the owner of the award “Goya” for the best debut (of course, not for “Ghost”), Paz Vega, which from the middle of zero began to be in demand for her acting skills and talent even in Hollywood. Her heroine is a medium (she is not a quack, no!) who suddenly could not foresee her own brutal rape. But she was completely sure who had done this heinous crime. After this incident, the heroine Vega began to suffer from a fear of open space and began to shun other people, seeing in them a danger. Psychologists could not help the girl and found a way out only to settle her in a small secluded apartment in a multi-storey house, so that she began to get used to the idea that there are still people nearby and they need to communicate, but soon the medium begins to have visions again, she sees a murder that, as she thinks, happened to the girl who lived in this apartment before her.
You can decide, based on the title, that the plot of the film is trivial and everything there is clear, especially it can be decided by someone who, as they say, ate the dog on mystical thrillers or detective stories, can recall the film “Gift” with Kate Blanchett, but this is not so, the plot is very intriguing in that the finale is clearly not entirely predictable. But the quality of the production is an endless nightmare for any viewer. The film’s cameraman, Mark Belver, chose this method of shooting, which resembles interference during viewing, when everything ripples before his eyes and is very annoying. Try watching a movie like that. The development of the action is about as protracted, if not boring, as, if you know, in the movie "Dark Water". For a long time you wait for something, and then moments that by their nature should scare the viewer look bewildered. And the master of sound seemed to be trying to check the nerves of the viewer for exposure, when all the time there was some background hum, similar to the grinding of metal against metal. In general, the hell and horror of such a video.
Pas Vega, who quite could refuse such a dubious project, still decided to star in it. The whole film is focused and focused on her character. But then there was the feeling that she was tired, that the camera is constantly filming only her and turned into a kind of stone image without emotions on her face. She had tried very hard and it was noticeable. After all, the Spaniards love to make horror films and love to star in them. In Paz Vega, in addition to the tape “Disappearance” (released in 2008, Simon Baker and Chloe Grace Moritz also played there), there was no experience in this genre. So it turned out that the exhausting work alone still to the end of Pas Vega could not bring. And kind of was the “dilution” of the heroine of Maya Zapata, but in general her appearance is somewhat incomprehensible and why it was necessary for the film, and what impact on its development this character carries – remains an unanswered question. Evidently, this is so that the viewer is not bored at all, although it is very, very difficult to achieve so that he “does not get bored at all” with “Ghost”.
Passage work of Paz Vega, absolutely unnecessary mystical horror film, which leaves only the question of why it was filmed and invested not only money, but also physical costs? Be brave to pass by this, let me say, film.
