Gifted thrash-cinema director Jeff Leroy absolutely rightly did that he did not shy away from any work, comprehending the world of cinema from all possible professions. He wrote scripts, made special makeup, but more often was an operator and editor, that is, he performed exclusively cinematic work. And in this capacity, he was associated with other famous people of category B - Joe Castro, Brad Sykes and Jay Welfel. Leroy’s most famous film is Invisible Evil 2, due to the participation of Lorenzo Lamas, but it is not the best, but perhaps one of the worst. And Jeff Leroy began his directing career in 1999, as a co-director of the horror film Tim Sullivan (for him it is also the debut) “The Eyes of the Werewolf”, an almost amateur film. But amateur doesn't mean bad. His budget was 5,000, which is not the same as President’s Day’s 5,000 (after all, inflation must be taken into account). And, perhaps, it would be possible to say that for such money the result turned out not bad if the example of Chris LaMartina was not before my eyes.
However, to give red color film Leroy somehow does not want, because it was only his debut, where Leroy performed only auxiliary function of co-director and not even listed in the credits. But do not take away from Leroy's film not bad transformations into a werewolf, so it becomes very sad that, for example, in "The Beast" by Timo Rosa such transformations are practically absent, although there was more budget and Rose is also engaged in special effects. By the way, of course, it is necessary to pay tribute to the dynamics of the film, since there are no empty conversations in this work, and the authors immediately take the bull by the horns, demonstrating the chase of people after the scalp. Disappointing only two long erotic scenes, shot as in an erotic movie, which would be nice to shorten, but the scenes with a werewolf to add more - the animal is fun and behaves quickly. Moreover, the plot itself is not so banal, because the main character turns into a werewolf, because there was a problem with his eyes during the experiment.
Jeff Leroy's debut is not translated into Russian, but is freely available on YouTube, as well as a number of other films where Leroy was a screenwriter, cameraman, editor. So you can see firsthand how this director went to his best films, learned to shoot thrash and for many years has pleased us with his work. By the way, in the debut, special effects were made by Leroy himself, and he turned out quite well, given how difficult it is to make transformations without the proper budget.
