Consideration of the film should begin with its backstory, where the roots of the plot come from. Director Ted Nikolau shot the franchise in four issues about the vampires “Subspecies” (“Subspecies”), still releasing a spin-off “Vampire Journals” (“Vampire Journals”), in turn, which got a sequel “Fallen devil” (“Decadent Evil”) with whose sequel we are dealing. All this looks confusing, but in fact the dilogy about the “fallen evil” is an independent horror duplet already authored by film fantasist Charles Band. He moved away from the signature natural Romanian landscapes and the gloomy atmosphere of the morose terrible Gothic from Eastern Europe, characteristic of the initiators, giving out an American light bugle with a generous dose of absurdistic thrash, bordering on a funny vampire anecdote and scramble. Everyone will interpret this in their own way, based on personal taste or bad taste, but Band is visually delicate, for which he can be praised.
Having a restrained budget, characteristic of the studio-long-lived "Full Moon", the director tightly holds the plot of the initial part, demonstrating the continuation of the adventures of familiar heroes. Having defeated the mighty vampire Morella, her protégé with sharp teeth Sugars with her boyfriend Dex did not find peace, because a new blood-sucking enemy appeared - the leader of the clan, which is equally close to ten thousand drunk victims, according to legend, leading to invulnerability and immortality among other children of the Night. To help them can the deceased Ivan - dwarf hunter for evil spirits, if he manages to revive the...
It is not for nothing that the trailer for the sequel was inserted into the final credits of the previous series, because when viewing it seems that we have one big picture with a similar aesthetic of an inexpensive modest b-movie shot within a pair of scenery, flooded with night darkness with a predominant emphasis on dialogue. The modest scope of bloody scenes and weak make-up is trying to shade the frequent nudity caused by the place of the main action in the form of strip clubs, hiding a vampire gathering. Our heroes have to identify the key villain among other participants in the events, sometimes reducing the production to a simple detective. Of course, unknown actors play as far as their expected capabilities allow, and brightens up the viewing of the specific director's humor, phenomenally preserved by him throughout his life, as if he was not a grown man, but a cheerful guy who knows how to fantasize strange fables with a shade of bold thrash. He keeps fooling around with the characters, showing a couple of comic vampire-themed archetypes. Firstly, the same bloodsucker hunter again acts on the contrast of the Lilliputian and the harsh disposition of the killer of fang monsters, and secondly, now he himself has turned into one of them and from this he is vicious to the limit, even if he is waist-high. Thirdly, his enchanted father, resembling a doll-lizard, is not in vain contained in a parrot cage, because we all remember the playful nature of this monster, having escaped to freedom, be sure to throw away some kind of number with a beauty. Oh, Band again came up with a greasy joke with him, which will be appreciated by all teenagers.
In general, the tape is intended for “Midnighters”, who love the inexpensive, but somewhat amusing brainchild of the full moon studio, and who want to track the entire chronology of the vampire series, which received several branches. The general public will not be interested in the film, whose attention he clearly did not seek.
