The caprices of the dead Three not-so-smart ladies - Alex, Rachel and Julia - go to Thailand. Of course, to rest - for what else? But since the writer deprived the characters of their minds, the ladies immediately fall into the Thai story associated with the curse of a dead girl (after all, according to the same scriptwriter, what if not a curse can you come across in an Asian country?). Of course, very soon the girls will regret that they were born at all, because the vengeful person, who in theory should have left this world, will begin to take revenge on all living within reach.
If you look at the record of James Cullen Brassack, you can see that in his rather young years, this director / screenwriter / editor / producer / actor / operator has not created anything worthwhile, so it was probably stupid to expect from the “malign” smart plot or shooting. It is commendable, of course, that, despite the mass of clearly failed tapes, Brassack does not abandon the idea of making a masterpiece (obviously, in the horror genre), but, as you know, geniuses do not become – they are born. (c) We will think that someday the young man will gain experience and give the audience something better than “malignant”. At least I want to hope for that.
So, three friends go to Thailand, and one of them: Alex is a pretty blonde with plump lips, who does not know how to play, but still harmoniously combined with the general slurred background, loves to eat and does not have a mind; Rachel is again a blonde, not as attractive as actress Ciara Hannah, but with the habits of a whore, whose behavior should please someone; Julia is a brunette, at first seemingly defending the right to be a full-fledged homo sapiens, but eventually becoming a match to her colleagues on the set. The friends settle in a hotel house and find there, in addition to furniture for comfortable living, a golden statue of a full-length girl. What kind of statue it is and what the hell it does in a hotel house girls are not particularly interested. They have fun, go shopping, look at the bar, where they meet guys, drink, have fun. And in the morning they find out that the guys with whom they had the pleasure to spend the whole night, robbed them and fled, taking with them ... that very, obviously, very decent in weight, the statue of a girl! Forgetting about their stolen trinkets, the three girls wondered for a long time whether the statue was really of any value and how deeply they were stuck, given that the statue is government property, the loss of which will now have to pay. And, in addition, along the way, the ladies remember that each of them had strange dreams at night, in which they skillfully kill their new acquaintances from the bar.
All this boring action takes about thirty minutes. Apart from the names of the girls, this time does not give us anything, so we are waiting for what will please us next. Basically, “rejoice” is only quite tolerable figures of girls flaunting in T-shirts and shorts, Hannah’s muzzle, languidly closing her eyes in a fit of high from the murder of a guy, well, or scanty views of Thailand. In short, everyone chooses the right one for himself, because if this is not done, further viewing will be unbearable.
In general, film is just a mockery of the viewer. The theme of the curse is a very winning thing, especially if it concerns Asia, since it is there that you can find a thousand all sorts of and really most of the amazing customs alien to Europe, but this does not mean that you can “invent something there” and taking on the main roles of young attractive girls to turn a pathetic plot into a film. Especially in a horror movie. But let us leave notes in the margins: the theme of the curse is done; the theme of revenge is done; the murder of a child is done; a soul-grabbing story (or attempts to grab a soul) is done. From a theoretical point of view, everything is fine, right? So what is the failure?
And failure consists in some ill-conceivedness, or in haste, or in the minimum of means that did not allow the plot to unfold. The story itself is quite worthy of Asian horror, although, of course, it needs refinement, but I see in this tape some pathos of the writer and too high a rating of his work as a director (and this is not at all strange, if we are talking about the same person). The film was made “to get out” and I would be very sad if in fact Brassack shot this creation in full seriousness. The component of horror here is so insignificant that even the philosophy of subtext goes into the background (believe me, it was here, just sank into oblivion against the background of idiocy). Especially pun looks the final scene, where the girls proved their mistaken involvement in the film industry, even if it is clear that they are trying.
Probably, it is worth putting only the statue of the girl that flashed at the beginning and at the end, and then only for the fact that she does nothing. And for me, it remained a mystery how the tape took an hour and a half of time, without having anything sensible, without unfolding the plot and without moving the action. Now from the "Villainous" I can only remember the statue, the old man and the face of Ciara Hannah. And it is a pity to put a positive assessment, no matter how twisted.
Having watched this creation from beginning to end, I can honestly say that the film by underdirector and underwriter Brassack is not worth watching. Don't waste your time on this lousy craft, find a better tape. True.
