Miss Understood. I am a big fan of the work of the band 78Violet (previously they were called Aly & AJ) and I could not miss this film, which is also seasoned with fresh tracks by Amanda Michalka.
The plot of the film is quite banal: a girl named Grace lives in a small provincial town with her mother and father, who is a former musical idol of the past. The girl follows in the footsteps of her father - she sings well, plays the guitar well, but she is cramped in this small province, besides the constant quarrels with her father, about her musical future, just bring it up.
Grace. So when her father turns down an offer from an old friend to resume his music career, Grace is happy to seize the opportunity. Secretly escaping from her parents, the girl escapes to Los Angeles, where a new world awaits her - a world full of fame and popularity, as well as cruel intrigues and betrayals.
Despite all the banality of what is happening, the film looks easy and relaxed.
Grace was played by the youngest of the Michalok sisters, Amanda (AJ). The girl played well, even very well. Her heroine turned out to be a brave, decisive, even a little tough, but at the same time vulnerable and deeply kind girl. Amanda did her job very well. I also liked James Donton as Grace’s father, and he had a very interesting character. It seems to be a strict father who constantly abuses his daughter, but then fatherly feelings take their toll and he begins to regret that he allowed his daughter to leave alone in a huge metropolis.
The music, or rather the soundtracks, are simply gorgeous. Amanda sings much better than her sister - her voice is much stronger and piercing. The film featured two of her songs, "Miss Understood" and "You Never Let Go," both of which are good in their own way, the first being more groovy and dynamic, and the second being more melodic, albeit pop-rock. I'm looking forward to a solo album from Amanda.
As a result, the film turned out to be a good musical drama with a banal plot, good actors and an excellent soundtrack.
