Continuation of history I love the science fiction movies of the past about time travel. If I name my favorite mid-20th-century science fiction film, it will be 1960’s Time Machine.
The intrigue that George went to on January 5, 1900, never faded away, and when I heard of a sequel, The Time Machine: “Journey Back” – the intrigue increased many times, and I was looking for this film. Only recently I managed to stumble upon it, which made me delighted.
The 50-minute film contains a lot about making the film, and the last 10 minutes combine the sequel and prequel to 1960’s Time Machine. George and Philby meet in the 1910s, during which the last time machine was nearly destroyed. Then there is the story of how George created a time machine.
Despite the fact that the film was not translated into Russian, and only 10 minutes told about the fate of George and Philby after the events of the original film, I will analyze each piece on a shelf.
George is back to save a friend who will have to die in the war. Old friends met again after many years. During the dialogue that arose between them, it is said that the war in which Philby will die is the first (World War I, because there will be another Second). Later, George tries to dissuade Philby from going to war. Then a quarrel arises on the grounds that George had to destroy the time machine, and Philby is already trying to do it, take a scrap, but stops in time by a friend. Friends make up and separate. George travels the day Philby dies to try to save his friend again.
George, according to Philby in the original film, has all the time in this world. It's a little unclear why Philby refuses George's request not to go to war, since he's essentially going to certain death. On the other hand, I understand Philby, because I am a determinist, and I believe that there is no escape from fate.
Old atmosphere. It's been 8 years since "Back to the Future" and other films with cool special effects came out. The sequel to Time Machine contains old special effects, old sound effects, but that’s not a bad thing. It feels the same atmosphere as the original film, the same intrigue.
It was pretty hard to make out 10 minutes, which is the sequel to a favorite movie. Still, I think that sooner or later there will be a full-fledged sequel, or a restart of the franchise (but with normal actors, not some glamorous and feminine men in the style of Justin Bieber and half-naked models and the like).
