A film about family communications in the field of sexuality. So correct, with humor, but at the same time quite plausible about one of the most intimate areas of life.
I really liked the fact that different couples are very different to cope with their “special” needs for sex. Someone is more capable of honesty, and constructive communication with a partner, someone less. And the results are very different, too. Just like in real life.
And yet, for me, the role of a neighbor who bypassed everyone gave them horror stories and reported that he was convicted of a sexual offense remained interesting and not completely clear.
An interesting law obliging to report it, thought about it, did not even know that in the States and Canada it is a prerequisite for ex-convicts.
It’s an Australian comedy about sex. The story consists of five novels dedicated to couples with different levels of problems in sexual life.
Novella 1: Phil sleeps poorly and often falls asleep at work. And all because at home his wife simply plugged and continues to harass him with constant claims. The boss gives Phil a sleeping pill so he can sleep, but his wife mistakenly drinks it and Phil finally begins to live a happy family life. I really want to advise this couple to solve problems with words through their mouths, but I think the marriage is already in the terminal stage, so I support Phil’s decision and find it as humane as possible in this situation.
Novella 2: Another couple who could hardly solve their problems with words. Richard and Rowena dream of having a baby, and sex has become a job they don’t enjoy. But Rowena suddenly discovers that she turns on when her husband cries. Naturally, of all the brilliant ideas, she settled on the one where she tries to bring her husband to tears by all means. And you have no idea what a purposeful woman is capable of achieving her goal.
Novella 3: This novel has spread like a separate short film on the Internet. And I consider her the flagship of this film. Monica, who works at a hearing-impaired support center, receives a call asking for an interpreter to have sex on the phone. And believe me, even this can be done with the soul and client-oriented.
Novella 4: Dan and Evie are already trying to solve their problems through conversation. This time with a therapist who advises them to try role-playing games. And so Dan played so much that he decided to become an actor to the rabies of Evie, who is most skeptical of her husband’s new hobby. No, but who doesn’t?
Novella 5: Paul and Mav, on the contrary, go to a frank conversation and confess to each other in secret sexual fantasies. To fulfill the desire of his wife, Paul has to step over himself and go to such tricks that this novella begins to pull on a separate thriller.
In general, a movie about cockroaches in the head and how to live with them (and is it necessary at all?). I liked it very much, it was easy, unobtrusive and, most importantly, I still have the opportunity to draw conclusions on my own. The creators of the film deliberately avoided any single morality - too sensitive theme is raised in the film, but we are adults, and we will figure it out ourselves?
Interesting but unnecessary fact: the title of the film comes from a 19th-century euphemism meaning orgasm. "La petite Morte" in French.
9 out of 10 – although I honestly admit it’s biased.
When someone said that every woman must necessarily and, worse, regularly experience orgasm, the weaker sex seemed to go crazy. Since then, a woman who survived to menopause and did not experience a “little death” could be put to rest, because the life of such a woman clearly failed.
The Little Death are five instructive stories about sex, orgasm, and relationships. Paul and Maeve are trying in every possible way to diversify their intimate life, resorting to rather harsh methods. The secret fantasy of a girl - to be raped, and unexpectedly - at first a little shock her boyfriend. And although Paul tries not to show appearance, from now on he is in every possible way trying to satisfy the masochistic desire of a friend. In the relationship of Dan and Evie, who seek the help of a professional consultant, the problem of poor quality blowjob develops into mutual complaints and insults. Therefore, the sexologist recommends this couple to try out the format of role-playing games, which in practice are more like fetishism.
Richard and Rowan have been trying to conceive for some time, but all their attempts have long turned into purely mechanical actions that bring no pleasure and do not lead to pregnancy. But one day, the news of Richard’s father’s death leads Rowan into intense excitement, and now she begins to feel attraction exclusively to her crying husband. So the viewer opens one of the rarest oddities of lust - dakrifily. Couple Phil and Maureen presents a deviation no less exotic - somnophilia: the desire to have sex with a sleeping partner. Well, for dessert, Monica and Sam will introduce the most resistant to the telephone catalog (not to be confused with bestiality).
33-year-old Australian Josh Lawson tells five wild, but at the same time witty, stories about sex, and even orgasm, which is clearly hinted at in the title. However, to call orgasm "little death" - La petite mort - today dare only the French. Everyone else just comes. For them, well, those who are not in the subject of this linguistic turn, the director, just in case, comes up with one fatal outcome. Which is not in the least dissonant with the general content, for we are not just a comedy, but a comedy with a black sweetness. In fairness, it should be noted that seven years earlier, Canadians filmed a similar sex sodium called Young People Fucking, with which “Little Death” clearly echoes.
There were also several stories of a deviant nature. That film also remained on the periphery of audience attention, but it received a kind of sequel on the fifth continent. And Lawson himself put before that a cute short film “After the credits”, where he stunned all love romance from the genre of melodrama. And already in that small debut, he made it clear that he was inclined not just to ironize, but to overthrow everything from the pedestal that had become obsolete. Now he has dealt five times in a row with the holy saints - the stronghold of family relations, which often, and many - and first of all, are based on the pleasure received in bed.
It must be admitted that Lawson knows the subject in question perfectly, because he wrote the script himself. Moreover, he takes on the most dangerous role - Paul. In general, before us is almost an author's film, which is not at all shy to please the viewer. The high-brow public might be embarrassed. But to defend the film, the lightness of The Little Death is deceptive. For if you wish, it is not difficult to notice that the director keeps a tightly compressed fig in his pocket all the time. It would seem that five stories could cover several age locations at once, but here they are all addressed to those who recently, like Lawson himself, have crossed the 30-year milestone.
More specifically, “Little Death” is addressed to the children of the “American pie”, who once, as teenagers, laughed at their own puberty perversions, and now, a decade and a half later, began to lose interest in sex, at least the sex that fits the conventional standards and has not yet mutated into paraphilia. And all because a rational and pragmatic attitude to intimate life sooner or later leads to the fact that love and feelings are emasculated. However, some, having discovered an acceptable, albeit strange, way of obtaining pleasure, begin obsessively to pursue it again and again, to the point that it turns into addiction.
Since sex became part of the ideology/consumption practice, sexual options have started to multiply at the same rate as the types of taxation. And since then, the theme of paraphilia can be exploited endlessly - enemophilia, plushophilia, treilism ... The number of perversions is now estimated in dozens, if not hundreds of variations. And I think that for those who are really interested in it and want to try everything, one life is hardly enough. And somehow I even worry about them in this regard. Unlike Lawson, who will not be out of work.
I think that many couples at some point are faced with the fact that sex life becomes an ordinary routine, when every touch of a partner does not cause exciting trepidation of the body and does not make the heart beat more often. Well, really, when the relationship has reached the stage of “I remember all your cracks”, as the song Zemfira, willy-nilly want variety, some catalyst that gives fresh breath. In this case, there are only two solutions to the problem: either pretend that everything remains the same and perform marital duty strictly according to the schedule, or discuss the problem with the other half and start joint experiments, realizing each other's sexual fantasies. In his film, Josh Lawson deals with the theme of various fetishes and fantasies. But it's so funny and it doesn't go at all that it's impossible to look without a smile. Well, unless you're a puritan and a prude who thinks sex is necessary for procreation, and everything else is corrupt.
I do not want to describe the relationship of each couple in detail, because everyone has their own quirks from harmless role-playing games and virtual sex to very unusual addictions. I had no idea, for example, that someone was sexually aroused by the tears of others. But that line was the most humorous. Poor Rowena put so much effort into squeezing a man's mean tear! But how creatively she looked for a new reason to cry from a selection of dramatic films to innocent deception. Most of all, I laughed at Dan's hepatitis joke and Monica's sign language translation of a piquant conversation. The filmmakers know a lot about irony. But even though it’s about sex, there’s room for romance. Did Paul come up with a bad birthday surprise for his girlfriend? Even the episodic character of the neighbor with his gingerbread men caused a charming smile.
The least interesting was the line of Phil and his ever-sawing wife, although his excuses to his wife revealed the problem of many modern couples with an imbalance of dominance. The climax, which served as an interweaving of the main plot threads, I also liked very much. The whole cast is super. These are mostly fresh faces that are fun to watch. Well, the bright picture pleases with juicy colors, for which a separate respect to the operator. The aftertaste of watching is still there. At least there's a moral here. The director makes you wonder if you should suppress your secret desires. And his message is obvious, in my opinion. Relationship problems begin with dissatisfaction. But if you go to extremes, it can also lead to sad results. It is much more productive to have a dialogue than to ignore the problem. People who love each other are always willing to compromise, because sex is probably the only thing where you shouldn’t be selfish.
Those who expect a ton of nudity and vulgar humor from this picture, I hasten to greatly upset. It might sound rude, but it's a movie for people who can think. Although at first it may seem that this is not the case. Because at first it seems that something is wrong: D The first minutes must endure, dear friends!
The writers decided not to bother and in the first scene tell the viewer about the main problem considered in the work – sexual deviation. The topic has been burning in recent years, especially considering that some deviations have become fashionable among young people, due to the fact that now everyone tends to be so different from each other. But this is from a completely different opera, back to our sheep.
This comedy seems to consist of different parts - from different stories of love couples. Each couple has their own “problem.” Throughout the film, I smiled like a fool from ear to ear, in some moments even laughing from the heart. I especially liked the story of Paul and Mave (the first couple shown in the film), ready to do everything for each other, for the sake of their mutual happiness, and the couple of Sam and Monica (the last couple), who met in an unusual and extremely delicate situation. And I think that I was not alone with them, because the creators of the film built the plot in such a way that the history of some opens the film, the history of the others closes.
Well, what's the movie about? Someone will say that this is a very good manual for familiarizing with various types of sexual perversions, someone - that these are stories about a kind of love relationship, someone - that this is just a film about life, and someone - that is stupid about sex. Well, I will say that about everything a little, with the caveat that the morality of this fable is such that you just need to be honest with yourself and your soul mate. Look for yourself: couples who confessed to each other about their oddities continued to live happily, and couples who did not find the strength to admit their “deviations” did not end up with anything good. Some did everything to make their secret desires come true, were ready to do anything to please themselves, while others did everything possible to please a loved one.
The biggest mystery for me, unlike most viewers, is not the “strange” ending, but the new neighbor of all our heroes. As I understand it, he is what connects all our characters, as if the personification of the “walking problem” disturbing the characters. And/or he is just a hero whose eyes we can observe from the life side of the characters, who seem to be ordinary couples, without any deviations. Although, if you think about it, we are all to some extent fucking perverts (after all, for someone and buckwheat with milk is still a perversion).
From the minuses I want to note the camera work and small oversights on the part of the writers. At first, the film was not perceived as something holistic: the transitions were too sharp. True, the most excellent and unexpected ending corrected everything, putting a bold point, although it remained open. Apparently, the creators decided to leave the imagination of the audience.
This is the most vital, to the banality of ordinary, but such a delightful comedy.
This is a story about different couples who have dirty laundry in the closet. And how nice it is to go through it sometimes. Each couple is interesting in its own way, you will consider someone crazy, but you will not feel a drop of disgust for any character.
You won't get bored! Despite the fact that one episode quickly replaces another, the characters are fully revealed, and the topic of sex is presented as if you are told about something else that does not make you embarrassed. That's right. I would suggest another slogan: "What is natural is not ugly."
This film left a very pleasant aftertaste. And what is important to note is that this is not a stupid, stupid comedy, of which there are many now. He teaches you to think and talk. This film should be shown to teenagers. If you’ve already had a conversation about sex, it’s time to watch. There is no eroticism, there are no genitals – most of the time there are dialogues, they are just on candid topics that everyone talks about behind closed doors.
I liked the actors, the work of the writers and directors is also at the appropriate level. Thank you very much for the ending: it’s amazing!
I won’t be sly, there is a point that upset me – I thought not quite finished stories of some of the couples.
It’s a great movie to watch, regardless of your age or gender. You will not regret your time spent.
Every person has their own squirrels. But those are not simple - sexually. Through bed you can learn about many human complexes and psychological problems. So the characters of the Little Death are especially pretentious. Well, maybe that's okay. . .
Girls imagine that you have a pretty loving husband, bringing money to the house and performing almost any whim. He, like you, wants a child, but there is no long-awaited “gift” or even pleasure from the process. Why? My husband must be a bad lover. But that's not quite true. You can only get excited by a man’s tears and nothing else. And knowing this, you will do anything!
Let's take another situation. You are a man to whom a girl recently openly stated that she would like to be sexually assaulted. At first glance, the situation is normal: many couples play similar roles. But you decided to bother - do everything to fulfill the request of your spouse. Now imagine what this could lead to...
These are only two stories, and there are plenty of them in the picture. There are all sorts of deviations and characters. The comedy of ideas is harmoniously combined with the comedy of positions, giving rise to a wonderful satirical narrative. Do not miss such an unusual comedy product! It may seem strange, but only trying a small piece, you do not want to stop.
To be honest, comedy is not really my genre. A very rare picture can make me laugh. And it is quite obvious why, because most of them do not have a high humorous and intellectual level. "Little Death" tries to refute such prejudices.
Prehistory:
This film is one of the kaleidoscopes. These are scenes where many unrelated stories begin to intertwine only at the end. This kind of narration cannot but impress. It shows the fragility of our vast world, where each one depends on the other in one way or another. All the characters are very different, but they have one problem. It's a problem that you don't usually throw at the viewer like that. The problem is sex.
For puritans, this tape is not recommended for viewing!
About what you saw:
Not often there are films that so openly reveal the underbelly of human passions. This happens as naturally as a doctor. It seems to be ashamed and nothing, but at first it is still somewhat awkward. And then nothing, you get used to it. And in the middle, you are so imbued with heroes, filled with laughter and think how cool all this is!
Despite the comic nature of what is happening on the screen, in every plot twist there is a boundless drama. That's the real comedy. The comedy of life. It can't be funny without a bit of objective sadness. This isn't a heartless joke. It's a real feeling. Because of such a sharp edge, sometimes you get lost and do not understand whether you are watching an unpretentious comedy or still a very extraordinary drama. From insanely touching and at the same time funny stories, everyone will be able to choose his line, which he liked the most.
Impressions:
A film for intelligent people with good taste. For lovers of average comedies - immediately NO. If you want to relax, but do not forget about philosophizing, then it is time to pour tea and sit down for a viewing.
P.S. But there is one little “but” that haunts me. For me, the film ended on the most interesting. There was so much more to say, to bring the viewer to a much more global thought. But it all ended very quickly and unexpectedly, perhaps for someone it will be another highlight in this cupcake of passions.
The film “Little Death” is a gossip of small stories about the lives of people who are somehow connected with each other. Viewers will feel like witnesses to the family life of several couples, like their hapless neighbor, a character designed to connect the novels together and bring light humor to the plot.
The plot will be understood and appreciated by an adult viewer who has experience of family life. The main heroine of the film is a sex life, everyone has different and sometimes accompanied by curiosities. It can cause a rupture or, conversely, the pledge of a strong union. Secret desires can lead beyond the limits of permissible or introduce new colors, can even be illegal, can be accepted by the second half or not accepted even by the person who experiences them.
Sometimes they are puzzling, and a person may not have the courage to tell their partner about them. After several years of living together, the former passion and romance of many couples fades away, and every day it is harder to find reasons to admire and surprise your soul mate. Being confident in each other and calm in the established life, a man and a woman relax, deaf and blind, as if all their senses are dulled. Problems accumulate and gestate alone and build a strong wall of mutual understanding, which they may not be able to destroy.
Those who find the strength to share their fantasies with loved ones have a chance for a warm and trusting union, as the story of Mave and Paul tells us. For many, the fear of being misunderstood and rejected becomes a small death, killing the feelings and joy of living together.
In general, the film boasts an interesting comedy script, a classic laugh through tears. In the presence of this trait, I refer films to comedies in the classical sense. Individual episodes deserve the highest praise.
I can’t say I enjoyed watching the movie. First of all, because in the film there is not a single hero to whom I could show sympathy. All men are either (sorry) stupid, or sloppy, or just assholes. The filmmakers are some kind of man-hating. All stories are depressing and end badly. You will not get pleasure from this.
It is not clear what the film was about. Or rather, it is about sexual perversion. The little ones who live in each of us. But what's the point? What's the moral? What was this film trying to convey to us? “Listen to your loved ones and everything will be fine.” But that's not in the movie - it's all bad. It's very bad.
Of course, the film is worth watching, but only to know later how not to act.
A great film for those who want to learn about some sexual perversions. The film shows several of them, and in each case tells about the tricks people come to, driven by a thirst for what they so passionately want. Undoubtedly, you can see in the film how unhappy these people are because of their sexual preferences, how these preferences affect their lives and their relationships.
There is no vulgarity in the film, everything is told with a great sense of humor and looks very easy.
The whole movie is about sex. If I watched something like this on TV, and my parent walked by, for example, I would rush to poke the remote buttons to deflect suspicions that I was interested in something. And that's weird. Especially since it is not my fault at all, because the desire for sensory pleasures goes to each of us.
As a result of not sharing your head with others, there is a cult of your own thought. Not everyone will be able to admit the falsity of their thinking by the power of their thinking. As I continue to think about it, I fall into an endless cycle from which irrational escape can only bring salvation. That's the movie. About desires, about their containment, about silence, about the problems that follow, about the decisions that the hero tries to implement in order to positively resolve the current plot of his life.
It's nice to watch. The director is not a scoundrel. As a result, we have several plots or several problems of interaction with others. Each of the problems is shown in the entourage of the most frequent thought that skips through the head of a modern schoolboy - "who would stick here."
Separately, I want to highlight the latest story. Deaf-mute, wanting to call sex on the phone through a modest operator who translates speech into sign language. Excellent.
