"Who are you, Mr. Auguste?" The film should appeal to lovers of light romantic stories, to which it can be attributed. “My best novel” does not make you think about something, on the contrary – its purpose is purely entertaining.
Director Mark Griffiths has a solid track record in the genre of comedy melodramas. Some of them are known to many ("Almost married", "How to fall in love", "Huge height", trilogy "Nanny", "Keep to the end", "Beethoven 5"), so he has enough experience. The more surprising is not only the complete lack of an original approach to the script of the picture, but also some directorial decisions (for example, the fading of the frame when changing episodes). The storyline is quite banal, so you can predict the whole course of further events in advance, not to mention its ending. The whole intrigue lies in the phrase made in the slogan of this review.
However, despite all the shortcomings and disadvantages I described earlier, the film still fulfilled its main task: “My best novel” quite allows you to spend your free time in front of the screen, forgetting about all the worries and completely immerse yourself in the narrative.
The choice of actors for the main roles was also successful. Actress Amy Acker, who played the role of a beautiful girl Sophie looked convincing in her role. By the way, she does not seem to correspond to her real age. Amy Acker is known to us for participating in a number of successful films, in which she played central roles: “Much Ado About Nothing”, “The Cabin in the Woods”, TV series “In Sight”, “Angel”; as well as for small roles in “Catch Me If You Can”, “C.S.I.: Crime Scene”, TV series “How I Met Your Mother”, “Storage 13”, “Supernatural”, “Speaking with Ghosts” and others, Dylan Brook’s Heroe (Liam, akay Gariel O.) sometimes came out convincingly and seemed to me.
