Joining the Club! How many times have we seen nice girls do cute things? Do they climb mountains or drive in tanks? Play mahjong or pop band? This time will show the life of girls from the women's school of airball club. Have the scenery changed and the concept is the same? So no, if the above was a moe yawn with echoes of spocon tournaments, then "Sabagebu!" is a purely comedic anime that the moe genre mercilessly kicked into the corners. There's a bunch of warping scenes and weird girls, no dumb harems or vanilla tea parties with 15-minute conversations about shampoos with buns and bagels. Also, the girls of the airball club do not know anything about the existence of tournaments. What do they ask then? Properly annealed in each series, delighting the viewer with endless pearls. Not to say that the humor was any fresh or brilliant - quite standard anime comedy. Another thing is that in moderation of quality, to watch if not sparklingly fun, then at least amusing. What is good for comedy and speaks of its good quality. However, as some critics note, the further the series develops, the less funny humor. Well, it is difficult not to notice and, unfortunately, this affects many anime comedy.
How do you ask the story? There's no linear story. There is only the introductory message of the initial series, and then the product sits on the rails of a comedy sketch format in the best traditions of “SKET Dance” and “Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou”. Although the quality of anime does not reach them, but does not sag. If those titles are the top tier of a comedy sitcom, then Sabagebu! will be a sturdy medium. Momoka Sonokawa, the main character, is transferred to a new school. She hardly manages to settle down, as Mio Otori, the head of the airball club, immediately notices her. The meeting with Mio ended with her being tricked into a club. After all, our heroine is not just a girl, but a accurately shooting beauty. For a sharp shot will punish the hearts of other participants, especially Uraru Kasugano. And now our heroine, who describes herself as a "nearly cool" girl, will be active ... no, not club activities. Forget it's an airball club. Pistols are just a background ingredient that gives color and, if I may say, a signature tone to the series, contributing a share of humor with its bloody bruises in the forehead of beauties. This is where the club part of the series ends.
Here the main stuffing is comedy, and there are no problems with it. Periodically, of course, there is clinically flat humor, such as with cats from space at the end of Episode 10. But it is rather an exception to the rule. The rest is quite cheerful comedy, periodically pleases with bright pearls, as for example with photographers and diet. The strength of "Sabagebu!" is the main character, breaking the templates of anime-girl characters. However, other characters are not particularly surprising, because there is a very standard set of secondary roles.
Theoretically, each series has two plot sketches, but the basis of the plot, and who actually needs it in the sketch format? Ideally, of course, the development of a linear plot is good, but its absence should not be surprised. This is approximately what from everyday life to demand an action-packed spy story, sounds just silly. So let's put the plotting away. There is a definite plus to this. Anime does not load anything, just watch, relaxing near the screen. The school setting is purely background, because girls sit in their airball chamber or run in the city or forests with guns. There will be adventures in the snowy terrain, in the wild jungle and Japanese forests. Let many occasional, but gives variety and color to the series. True, the basis of the plot was lost somewhere in the same forests or jungle.
The little Pierrot Plus studio, until recently called Studio Kikan, was little more than remarkable. Mostly sculpted niche projects or short films for the Japanese market. Perhaps saved the title from failure quite experienced Director. Ota Masahiko was featured on "Chobits", "Texhnolyze", "Gungrave" and "Gunslinger Girl" and "Rozen Maiden" as the episode's director. Of course, participation in such strong projects does not pass without a trace. And in 2007, Ota Masahiko made his debut as the main director with the very famous Minami-ke, and then there were Mitsudomoe, Yuru Yuri 2, Love Lab, Kotoura-san and now our Sabagebu! What will his projects bring together? That’s right, all this is more or less entertaining anime, which is based on comedy. In general, the studio, which lacks stars from the sky, is extremely lucky to work with an experienced director. The technical component in the anime is not very good. The drawing is niche and the imagination is not striking, and OP and ED are boring almost immediately.
The sample of the series resembles a sketch show with the same characters who get into stupid and just funny situations between shooting at each other with airball weapons, and a harsh voice behind the scenes explains what is happening on the screen. The point is not to wait, similarly sensible plot in such a product does not happen. Where was it seen in anime to have a title go with one tag? It’s just a pure comedy without any admixture, which in terms of genre value is always good. Fans of comedies must watch, as well as just a viewer tired of the Senen and Etti stream - it should be useful to take a breath with this title.
