I wonder when the moment came when the creators of parody comedies lost interest in themselves created films? Otherwise, what if not a loss of interest in his work to explain the colossal regression as films of this genre? The same type of character curve, flat, not funny, cloned jokes, low quality parodies, stupid, not interesting plot, wander from one comedy to another. Further to degrade, it would seem, and nowhere, but almost every new film opens new and new facets of squalor and dullness, and “Curly Hostage” was no exception.
It’s hard for me to understand why parodies have suddenly lowered the requirements for the script, the level of humor, the quality of the crew’s work. Of such spectacular and eventful paintings as “Air Marshal” and as many as three parts of “Hostage” the authors did not find five scenes for ridicule? Why did their whole fantasy focus on the main character’s problems with his ex-wife? Is the subject of interracial ties and the constant glorification of the anatomical features of the representatives of the Negroid race considered so amusing in America that this aspect is given almost 90% of screen time? Yes, probably, such jokes can really make you laugh, but not when they are repeated within an hour with a frequency of 2-3 minutes. Although I was so caught up in the fantasy of the writers... After all, in the end, they gave us such an unusual action scene, thanks to which you begin to regret that throughout the film urged the authors to be original, and some psychologists on what they saw could even defend several dissertations.
Also, it remains a mystery to me why actors, playing in parodies, forget that in this genre you need to play, and not only crook and clown? All these actors show us is cheap, inept, annoying with every minute more and more clowning, and nothing more. They seem to be trying to take poses more amusingly, and to twist their face more hilariously, but it catches the eye that all this is given to them through force, there is no lightness and naturalness in their actions, that charm, that charisma that is necessary for actors of parodies. Sometimes it seems that they are just confused and do not understand how to play, what to do to get the episode at least a bit of humor.
After watching such fake movies, I always wonder, and the creators themselves are satisfied with the resulting material? Do they really think the movie is hilariously funny, and the dialogue and curvature of the characters are insanely funny? Or were they just trying to make the film faster and making it quality was not one of their priorities? And if this is true, then I hope that even though the participants of the filming had fun, personally, this tape could not squeeze out neither smiles nor even smirks. There is no humor in the film, quality parodies too, the plot is primitive even for a parody comedy, and the acting begins to irritate almost from the first frames. The creators of The Curly Hostage stole 70 minutes of my life. I am very sorry that once my favorite genre has slipped into the abyss of tastelessness, low-grade and stupidity.
