I came across the "Time of the First", the rental of which was so thundering that I decided to watch.
So, this is some very bad movie. It's just a really bad movie. I was even disappointed in Khabensky: well, you can not act in such a frankly bad movie, in fact. Worse only the film "Crew", but firstly, it is at least funny, and secondly, there starred Danila Kozlovsky, and his narcissism can be viewed approximately as a burning fire and flowing water. And all right Mironov: he has the role of the owner of enthusiastic shining eyes, he is supposed to play extra-systemic Komsomol members and Prince Myshkin in one person, where else is he, but not in such a bad movie. Boy, chicks, night field, fireflies interspersed with stars, that's it. But why Khabensky? Well, the lubricated brezhnev, common generals, even space, because you look and think: will the bekmambetov in the frame glow of the Kremlin stars or will not finish? What if a shhush flashed a red star from the Borovitskaya Tower somewhere between Orion's belt and flashback fireflies from childhood? And here is this soft power of the Russian soul: a cognac instead of tea, a slightly unfinished spaceship, a slightly unfinished spacesuit, a slightly undertreated astronaut, but the whole set still takes off, then, of course, tragically breaks down, heroically overcomes, miraculously sits down inexplicably where in the taiga, a slightly unfinished radio beacon does not work there, even a pilot Meresiev does not meet (the only script flaw), but in the end everyone will live long and happily with the stars of the heroes. That is, the United States won with its ship, and the Soviet system with its Humanity. Well, amazing, crystalline, just flawlessly bad movie.
As usual, the space diamond for domestic cinema was discovered simultaneously by two producers. Temur Bekmambetov and Sergey Selyanov. They were actually shooting a race – who will be in time for the April rental? On horseback and in the April date rental was Bekmambetov. The title of his painting – “Time of the First” – acquired an additional semantic connotation in this context. And the creators themselves, albeit in a very caricatured form, tried on the roles of the Queen and Gagarin.
“Time of the first” is tailored to the best patterns of Hollywood. Movie attraction - landing of a fighter with a burning engine - already in the first minutes of the picture. In addition, for experienced viewers, a frank style rhyme with the classic Chukhraev “Clean Sky” is the same texture, the same rhythm, the same types. Attractions for a two-hour picture are exactly as many as required by the laws of viewership. Fighter - one, parachute jump in adverse weather conditions - two, the mysterious death of a prototype rocket - three, spacewalk - four, problems when returning to the ship - five, oxygen poisoning in the ship - six, emergency landing by hand - seven, survival in the taiga in the cracking cold - eight. Between the rides, the episodes are comic, romantic and dramatic. The most unlucky romance. The wives of cosmonauts Alexei Leonov and Pavel Belyaev are similar as sisters and do not say anything intelligible except "Something I'm worried." Romanov on the side of the cosmonauts are not allowed, hearty passions with such ameba wives are simply impossible to imagine. Yes, the family life of the cosmonauts gives the director of “Time of the First” to ironize over the TV crews of the mid-60s, who staged the “warming” family episode for the saga about the heroes. But, the family life of the astronauts was filmed exactly the same as those hacks. The parody turned into a self-parody. I wish it hadn’t been there at all.
The mounting joints of the super-close plans of the cramped cabin with the super-common cold Universe return even the most cynical viewer the feeling of incredible human smallness in the face of the infinitely large mystery of the structure of our world.
Color conflict - plans in the cockpit of the spacecraft are filmed in a muffled warm peach range. Everything that happens outside the cabin is ink blue, velvet black, sterile white. Plus the conflict is emotional. Cosmonauts Leonov and Belyaev are different people. One is extroverted, the other is more self-absorbed. One is a joker and a laugher, the other is severe and responsible. Finally, one is played by Evgeny Mironov, the second by Konstantin Khabensky. Not just two earthlings in the face of the Unknown. And earthlings are so different (the difference in age, life experience, approaches to life is played out not only in beneficial dialogues, but also in real conflicts, which, however, still occur on Earth), but also so similar (the main similarity is the readiness for a friend to sacrifice their own security and life). Here jokes hide anxiety, and sincere care is easy to read behind the handouts.
Everything that happens in orbit is made sense on Earth, at the mission control center. It turns out that the motherland does not always hear and does not know everything. Moreover, all the key events of the film take place exactly in those moments when the ship leaves the zone of direct radio communication. The motherland knows about the problems of the ship and cosmonauts, but these problems are solved only when the crew does not hear orders and advice from the big Earth. People in the MCC are as different in character, temperament and life positions as astronauts in orbit. Only two cosmonauts, and in the MCC - a dozen and a half characters, each of which has its own values and ideas about morality and morality. And, if the ship is always connected, it is possible that Leonov and Belyaev would remain in orbit, doomed to death and posthumous glory. In any case, the representative of the Ministry of Defense will insist on such a decision, fearing that in an emergency situation, a capsule with astronauts may land in China, and, God forbid, in the United States. And most importantly, there will be a designer. Queen Ilyina is complex, how difficult the time in which he fell to live. Kamanin’s order, condemning the heroes to a slow, painful death, is a tragedy for the Queen. But if not for the happy departure of the ship in the "dead" zone, Queen Ilyina would have carried out this order. He knows that without sacrifice there is no primacy, sentimental feelings must be hidden deeper. There is no need to give them any will.
A separate conversation is a visual image of the MCC. If the ship in orbit is a collective image of the planet, then the MCC is a collective image of the USSR. Barracks, almost spartan furniture of dark brown tone, dark oak panels on the walls, gray surfaces of tables are all big greetings from the country of victorious socialism, which chose a semi-military lifestyle the only possible. But in this soulless bureaucratic gloom, the operator at key moments adds the warm yellow light of the table lamp, light gray images from orbit, a bright scarlet napkin, as a timid reminder of the thaw that is already raging behind these walls.
There is in the film another iconic representative of the Motherland - Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev. The episode with Brezhnev in the fabric of the picture looks like a separate pop number, which not only adds nothing to the atmosphere of the era, but destroys everything accumulated by this minute. It is a good thing that this episode is in the first half of the film.
In the credits of the film there are 5 screenwriters at once. Stylistic differences in dialogue, unfortunately, can be heard. This closer to the finale will be subtle dialogues in orbit and in the MCC with two, three meanings and subtexts. And in the beginning, we will be presented with a mind-blowing conversation Leonov and his wife about who he is “an astronaut with a brush in his hand.” Not only are the self-descriptive replicas of the hero “I even see the sky and the stars through the ceiling” extremely archaic, so the topic for a conversation with his wife is somewhat strange. What happened to the directors, I do not know and do not want to know. But the question is still tormenting - is the orbit, the MCC and the hut of the radio operator in the wilderness - all one director's hand? Here just on the screen was a finely recreated atmosphere of time and life of that time in the MCC and immediately under the breath of the viewer - a hut on chicken legs, the scenery of which was clearly built in the pavilion in the center of the city of Moscow in the early 21st century in accordance with the worst Kichevy ideas about the existence of village people in the USSR.
This is how this film moves to the final, then capturing the viewer in his world, then annoying with the approximateness. Some of this happened because of the race against competitors, some of it was the result of the oddities of talents who have a taste for one thing and are indifferent to the other. The method of “now the whole world piles up and bypass competitors” in space brings an impeccable result, and in the cinema – ambiguous. So did you like the movie? Yes! Nope. But anyway, thanks for trying.
It is rare in Russia to make films about space, and even based on real events. In theaters, we are much more likely to see Hollywood sci-fi blockbusters such as Gravity, The Martian and Interstellar.
The movie is really good. The first thing you remember after watching is the amazing atmosphere with maximum tension when you need it.
The film focuses on three characters. First of all, on the general designer Sergey Pavlovich Korolev. For him, the main line of the party, the carrier of which is General Kamanin, is a necessary necessity, with which, although we would not like to, we must take into account. The main thing for Korolev is that everything was done well, thoroughly, reliably, and the astronauts would safely return alive to Earth. Kamanin, like a serpent-temptor, subjects the designer in every emergency situation to a test of conscience: then he demands to leave the astronauts in orbit (if only they landed on enemy territory), then insists on stopping them, who have already landed, the search. Sergey Pavlovich listens, but acts in his own way. It stands out from the system within which it is located. You can’t say that he is a person, and around the mannequin, no, there are also people around, but they all have a common value system, and Korolev has his own. Korolev in the film is not only the general designer, his role is wider in dramatic terms - according to his mood, words and behavior, as if by an indicator, the viewer is guided by how critical a particular situation is. It is Ilyin in the role of Korolev that keeps afloat the first, production, and therefore the most difficult to perceive, third of the film.
The graphics in the film are also very, very decent. We can do that when we want to.
Another point I was worried about is that tapes of such patriotic content are very often filled with excessive pathos, which makes it harder to “believe” the picture. The filmmakers dealt with this problem very well. Yes, pathos in the picture, of course, there is, but it is sustained and just in the amount in which it is needed.
"Time of the First" is the first picture in the last few years who can claim the title of "remarkable / excellent". By the way, such paintings in Russian production can be counted on the fingers. I don’t want to say that Time of the First begins the progress of cinema in our country, but at least it tries to prevent regression. For a moment, the film took at least two and a half years to make. That's the minimum. Maybe that’s why there’s almost nothing in the movie?
Watching this movie, it was like watching 'Moving Up' again. 'For myself and Sasha!' Deja vu is no different. Unsurprisingly, the films were released in the same year and both have contrived drama and conflicts from scratch.
Evil, cold and soulless government, demanding to “outrun the hated Americans.” The initial scene with a check from a catapult, who does not know how to jump with a parachute Belyaev, all this nonsense with preparation for the flight, having nothing to do with a real flight - this is only part of what we see.
The real flight, as we remember, was almost regular, there was no hysteria 'a la Sandra Bullock' film 'Gravity'. There was a slight drop in pressure in the suit, which was safely resolved. But the creators somehow remembered “Gravity” and jealous of Cuaron decided to play “cosmonauts and consuming Soviet hatches”.
I don't even want to talk about the nonsense about "destroying the spacecraft in orbit." The Queen would rather fly there and personally pull both of them from Mars, and then Kamanin threateningly says: “What if Europe or China land?” It's crazy.
The ending is also made up and probably brazenly copied from I Know What You Did Last Summer. It is a pity that instead of Leonov, Tereshkov did not fly, she would have taken the Oscar.
As I said, the film clearly reads "anti-Sovietism." Everything is childishly divided into good and bad. The Sowok, the KGB and the Ministry of Defense are very evil men and stupid people. Leonov and Belyaev are heroes that the state forgot about in the taiga.
The cherry on the cake is an obituary (which was actually intended for Vladimir Komarov). A lush spit in the face of everyone who remembers the true history of human flights to space.
2 out of 10
And what is this redhead in the lead role that can not play? Khabensky is, of course, a hammer, but what can he do alone when the others play like in a school theater, and the dialogues are written in the spirit of Dostoevsky with a small letter?
The right movie about our history. Suffice it to recall the answer of Alexei Leonov to the question "Isn't they very scary?" replied that "in fact, it was even worse." It’s a pity that we don’t have enough writers to write about our real life. And it would be much cooler than Hollywood action movies.
I have a bit of ambivalence about this film. His visual side is beyond praise. Facilities, scenery on the material part justify the title of the film, but unfortunately, they came out more important and vital characters. Relationships between those are depicted easier than I would like. ' Blow' in the acting game is inappropriate, after all, the characters are the most selective shots of one-sixth of the world, and not household Hamlets - kitchen neurosthenics. The deformation of real events of drama for the sake of almost blocked the drama of events and the heroism of achievements. This is a great movie!
The author’s assessment of the time of the former is unclear and contradictory: so what is better – just to fly (allegorically about the freedom of individualism) or fly “in shackles” (meaning Soviet collectivism)? Without them, would a peasant boy from a field with fireflies become a man in outer space among the stars? Conclusions to the viewer. Nevertheless, the fragments of the former greatness are so impressive that it is definitely worth watching this movie.
I haven't seen Salyut 7 yet, but this space epic is clearly on top! The feeling of involvement in what is happening, if not striking, is at least pleasantly surprising thanks to the realistic historical atmosphere and professional play of the heroes, where Evgeny Mironov, with his inherent ability to fully get used to the role, repeated the feat of Alexei Leonov - a pioneer of outer space and, it should be noted, did not concede anything to him. Well, if only in terms of risk. Acting skills, where the degree of survival in the character, is an indicator of the quality of the game, also carries a certain risk, and given the number of roles and roles played by him, in my opinion - brilliant, then one can only envy his psychological and emotional flexibility, which, sometimes, is so lacking in solving everyday problems. We are looking forward to the new film with his participation – “Demon of the Revolution”.
Looking at the era when responsibility to the homeland was directly related to honor, and professional competence and the ability to follow the orders of management were an indicator of careful attitude towards it, we can conclude that the acting team coped with the task by five plus.
It was the time of the first, and probably still is seen in the eyes of our elders, full of hope for a bright future. Thanks to Vladimir Ilyin, we finally saw and felt the psychological pressure caused by global competition in the space sector. Responsibility as a “heavy portfolio” was no longer easy to bear, for the no longer young heart, clutched in the clutches of senior management and his own wards, for whom he was responsible with his head, and who were supposed to confirm the feasibility of his scientific theories. “To launch into space not finished product with the letters of the USSR on board”, probably, it was possible, but “to shit before the whole world and get two heroic corpses, instead of two heroes of astronauts” was impossible.
And then, incrementally. The viewer will be immersed in a few rather exciting suspense, which will surely stir the imagination of an older viewer - a contemporary of events - familiar with the then party ethics, but also young, too, it must be interesting how the first computers were managed by frightened, to death, scientists. I did not know that the first spacewalk was accompanied by such dangerous excesses - on the verge of life and death and how the first, invaluable experience was acquired - by the first pioneers of outer space. The commander of Voskhod 2, Pavel Ivanovich Belyaev (Konstantin Khabensky), for the first time in history, landed in manual mode, which at that time in itself was extraordinary. The landing took place in the snow-covered taiga 200 km from Perm, far from settlements. The astronauts spent two days in the taiga until rescuers took them out. Great movie! I recommend watching.
An ordinary movie for today: like everything about that country in the last 20-30 years. With the same messages and propaganda.
They showed from the truth: Leonov and Belyaev flew, Leonov went into space, landed. It is in this form without adding ' how exactly it was '.
The rest are all cuts and compositions of the level of all non-politik who dreamed of a nuclear bombardment of that country. That is, in the preparation of the flight, its process and landing was bad, and in spite of it. In addition, the bloody crap, the detachments are also in some close to the correct form, but there are - where without them?
Well, of course, the praise of the one who did all this in spite of, as without it.
' Citadel in space' - neither give nor take.
Like the flight of Belyaev and Leonov, the shooting and release of the film was haunted by evil rock. The casting of the director, a difficult filming process, indistinct marketing, a scandalous and unnecessary struggle for a place in the sun with the Furious 8 and the domestic Salyut-7. The heated soil of the long-suffering Russian cinema, in the bad sense of the word, with the paintings “Attraction”, “Night Guards”, “Defenders” and especially tarnished Bekmambetov’s reputation “Hack Bloggers”.
Competitors. I was surprised by the comparison with "Gravity", it is inappropriate here in fact. “Gravity” is a beautiful film and really one of the most appropriate 3D in cinema, BUT to compare a frank fairy tale in which an unimaginable amount of delusional fiction, from the point of view of cosmonautics, with a picture on real, events of the flight of Soviet cosmonauts is not comilfo! The only direct competitor of "First Time" in the West "Apollo 13" with Tom Hanks 1995.
Actors and characters. You can talk about the talent of Khabensky, Mironov and Ilyin for a long time and this has already been done in other reviews. I'll be brief, fine! I will especially note the image of Leonov created by Mironov, who saw an interview with this great cosmonaut or read the memories of other pilots about him, you will understand what I mean! There are opinions about the "cardboard" families of astronauts. They are really somewhat lost, especially against the background of Belyaev, Leonov and Korolev. Many did not like little Leonov - but there is not enough of him, he is appropriate, not annoying and is a lyrical mini retreat.
3D and visual effects. They didn't face the mud. There are also camera spans and camera sketches - done with dignity. Especially exciting were the moments at the airfield at the beginning of the film. I was afraid there will be little space - it is de facto not enough, but to the detriment of the film it did not go! The near-Earth orbit is not as bright and juicy as in Hollywood movies, but here is a more realistic picture, not so glossy. Watch the ISS footage and everything falls into place. I am not saying that it is perfect and excellent, but such a decision is quite appropriate given the mood of the picture.
Music and sound effects The music is good, but there is a lot of it in almost every logical scene. Unfortunately, this can interfere with viewing.
Result. The film is a good movie. Not without your problems, but still, a very good job. There is a problem with sound throughout the film. An imperfect story in the first half of the picture. And, as I thought, periodic too much pathos in moments. Perhaps this perception is influenced by music. However, I was pleased with the viewing.
They saw the Earth or the emotionally strong drama of the first spacewalk
Biographical drama. I know where to start the story of this painting. Better so – I continue to watch pictures on space themes, despite the fact that the day of cosmonautics was almost two months ago. To be honest with you, I expected much worse from this picture than in the end. I’ve missed it since then, and now I’m starting to regret it a little bit because it deserved my attention, so now I’m getting better (better late than never, right?). So here's my brief opinion - an emotionally robust drama about the first spacewalk. In the picture, of course, there are both pros and cons, and now I will talk about them.
So, pluses:
1. Picture - the picture looks just amazing, and no one will argue with me about this, because everyone has eyes, and the picture is thrown first, and ' soap' not here. And the frames on Earth are not inferior as frames from Space. Here you can see the competent and well-executed work of the technical department, especially the operator, who well picks out the most spectacular shots and the angles needed at this particular moment.
2. Drama - I don't know how, but I really worried about the heroes, although I knew that the victory would be theirs. The main actors were able to establish an emotional connection with the audience, because they are the most famous Russian actors today, these are Evgeny Mironov and Konstantin Khabensky. The creators managed to survive from the history of the flight of Leonov and Belyaev drama to the maximum (although the real flight was no less dramatic), and it worked.
3. Star cast - in addition to the two main characters, there are a lot of famous actors in the first and second roles. I personally enjoyed watching them and listening to them.
4. Need - such paintings as this are needed by the Russian viewer, because since the release of Alexei Archipovich Leonov into outer space, it has already been fifty-four years, more than half a century! You can imagine! For some it is a lifetime, and thank God that Alexei Archipovich is alive and well, and God give you health! But Pavel Belyaev has long been gone with us. Several generations have grown up who do not want to become astronauts, and some with burning eyes claim that the Americans were the first in space! Therefore, such pictures as 'Time of the first' we need, this is an artistic way with large assumptions, but from them the youth will learn about these legendary people, and who will be interested in this issue - will be able to dig into the documents and read the diaries of astronauts, the benefit of all this is freely available.
So, minuses:
1. Inscriptions in foreign languages - it is possible that I was the only one who came across this version, but the name of the picture appeared in English, and the inserts were generally in German. Excuse me, how? I had a cognitive dissonance from what happened. Again, I may be alone ' lucky' with this.
2. Mironov and Khabensky ' old' - I'm sorry, but I will not close my eyes to this, and if Khabensky did something else, but looked and looked like Belyaev, then fifty-year-old Zhenya Mironov did not look like a young Alexei Leonov. Mironov is too old for that. And even makeup didn't fix the situation.
3. Matt - in this picture it was completely inappropriate, and felt a foreign element.
4. Differences from real flight - many moments were thrown out, and some brought to the satisfaction of entertainment, and you know - I probably agree with this.
5. The Gulag, the bloody Stalin and all the other charms - I know what was glimpsed about it, well, that's why it was impossible to do without it? Why can’t you make a picture about the Soviet Union, where you don’t talk about the “bloody thirties” & #39, the evil Stalin and other nonsense? Damn it!
A bit about the main characters:
1. Alexei Leonov performed by Evgeny Mironov is a simple peasant guy who conquered space, with cheerful morals (as in life), but with an admixture of Zhenya Mironov, it is natural, because each actor brings a piece of himself to his hero. Zhenya played well, you can not argue with that!
2. Pavel Belyaev performed by Konstantin Khabensky is the commander of the crew of the spacecraft and a friend of Alexei. Older and more experienced, but with his own appeal. Kostya did the same.
3. Sergey Pavlovich Korolev performed by Vladimir Ilyin - ' father' Soviet cosmonautics and just a leader who cares about his subordinates. Hero Ilyin looked like a real man, and his emotions were visible to the naked eye. Just a brilliant role of Vladimir Ilyin! Bravo! A worthy film incarnation of a truly legendary man.
As a result, we have a strong biographical drama about the release of Alexei Leonov into outer space with a stunning acting, a strong and emotional drama and with a colorful visual component.
I’m not afraid of that word, but the film is just epic! Excellent work. The story lasts more than two hours, and it goes in one breath. The scenery, costumes, computer graphics, the atmosphere of both the historical and the atmosphere of space are conveyed delightfully. The game of Mironov, Khabensky, Ilyin is excellent. It's so nice to see this cast.
Yes, the topic for which the authors of the film took up is complex and ambiguous in their understanding. I wouldn’t be surprised if the movie had enemies. The image of Sergei Korolev appeared so unconventional that, I am sure, already at this stage, many fans of the general designer squeezed their fists in their pocket.
And I liked the image created by Vladimir Ilyin: a person physically exhausted from the most difficult work, who is not lost in the most critical moments. Energy from it was transmitted even through the monitor screen. What it's like watching him on the big screen. I'm sure the impression will be fantastic.
Yes, the director’s banter over the character of the General Secretary of the CPSU was clearly noticed. Maybe they're overreacting here. I agree. After all, Brezhnev is at the beginning of his career as a superpower leader, and what he turned into closer to the 80s are two big differences. We had a mask in front of us. Not a person, but a mask sitting in the middle of an empty room, eating cookies. The role is small, but some kind of pretentious comic turned out. Apparently, the filmmakers did not like Leonid Brezhnev very much, since they made him so.
I found the astronaut training a bit incomplete. That's where the enormous load is, both physical and moral. That's where the breakdowns were. This could be accentuated, and collisions during the flight could be done and less. There are plenty of them out there.
For example, as a viewer, I do not understand the constant shuffling of Leonov’s partners: One or the other. And the Khrunov line, then, just breaks off. It is clear that Belyaev recovered and he was returned to service. But there is a lack of motivation for these actions. It all worked out very well. Playing heroes like dominoes. The authorities decided one thing, the young Leonov yelled at them (to the superiors yelled), and the superiors changed their decision. Naive, of course. There is a lot of over-thinking and over-thinking.
The rest of the story is amazing and fascinating. And there are moments when those whose childhood or youth fell on the time of the Soviet Union may nostalgize about this era. Still, the Soviet Union and morals are conveyed very reliably (which is not in all films shot about the USSR).
Of course, there will be many dissatisfied with the free interpretations of the director and lack of seriousness in relation to the technical aspects of astronaut training. But let’s remember two main nuances: before us is still not a documentary tape about the first human spacewalk, and artistic. Therefore, the authors have every right to enhance some moments, embellish others and distort the third, because it is done for the entertainment of the picture. To us with you, dear viewers it was interesting to sit at the screen, and not yawn from the abundance of technical narrow-profile terms and subtleties.
And the second: after all, Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov himself made the general consultant (God bless him with good health and long years of life) - a legendary, great personality. Do you think he, who was hardened in the Soviet Union, would have made a blatant mess on screen? Very, very unlikely.
So, again, the film is very worthy. And I am sure that he will enter the rank of domestic film classics on a par with the picture ' Taming Fire'. Although, of course, these films are created in different eras and show, in fact, two sides of the coin of the same great cause. But Merit 'Time of the first ' this does not reduce at all.
The film “Time of the First” is a representative of those films, the viewing of which does not leave a negative residue from the miscalculations they have, and if they occur, I do not want to mention them. The main argument in favor of this is the reliability of the actual events that took place in our long-suffering fatherland, the memory of which we cherish, which warms our souls, fills us with respect, admiration and love for our Motherland.
The film offers us to mentally roll back fifty years, and plunge into the period of our parents’ life – in a period not the best: still gray, still poor, still difficult, still terrible; but not the worst – then our country was at the stage of recovery after the war, at the stage of growth, lower prices, recruitment of forces and fortress. By this time it is impossible not to be imbued with attention: one of the bright events characterizing this period was the release of a person into outer space for the first time. In itself, this event sounds glorious, but we must understand that it was preceded by the coordinated, conscientious and persistent work of many people who were pioneers in this industry.
This is exactly shown in the image of those people who are engaged in rough and invisible work, in particular, preparing aircraft for departure - forgetting to do the slightest operation, a flight can turn into an accident.
Also, people who do not have experience in the design bureaus of rocket and space subjects can get acquainted with their activities for the first time, which consists in the continuous work of thought, which, sometimes, is harder than physical labor. All the benefits of civilization, which we are accustomed to from birth, are the result of countless mistakes, decisions and successes of these workers with pencils in their hands.
The film invites us to think about the hard work of pilots – they, being in a literal and figurative sense between heaven and earth, risk their health and life every flight. We, sitting in the comfortable seats of airlines, may not even know the pilots, do not think about them, do not know them, but simply entrust our lives in their hands.
These examples remind us, who perform the work assigned to everyone in the workplace, of the need to perform it conscientiously and qualitatively, not because of the stern bosses, but because of moral arguments. Our modernity has so twisted us into a knot that now we all live depending on each other, no matter how well we settle down in life, no matter what accounts we have in overseas countries.
Of course, the rapid development of the space industry was an integral part of state and world politics – having good relations with our “friends”, we could not have conquered space in such a short time and survived the Cold War. This is well shown in one episode, which is revealed in the conflict of state interests and simple humanity, which was reflected in the dialogues of S. P. Korolev and the representative of the Ministry.
The film “Time of the First” is aesthetically executed, fully conveys the atmosphere of cosmic infinity and the vast expanses of our fatherland.
Summing up, I will say that the film is worth watching – Evgeny Mironov and Konstantin Khabensky, rotating around the Earth on the ship “Sunrise-2”, looking for ways to return home to their wives and children, will charge you with the desire not to stay in place, the desire to achieve something good and useful, will leave you with pleasant impressions.
When I heard about the movie, I couldn’t wait to see it. Favorite theme, favorite actors. Then came the White Square for camera work! The knees trembled with delight to see the beauty of space on our domestic screens.
But the film was average. Excessive pathos on the Soviet theme, as usual, was not brightened even by the charismatic performance of our best actors. Today, such films seem primitive, outdated. Black and white characters go through their arches and change in a very predictable way - without spoilers, but a person who knows the laws of drama will understand where the plot is going very early. Yes, heroes risk their lives for the honor of the country, and in the end, the struggle for survival and this honor merge. No surprises.
Scenario the second half, protracted and boring (I say this also as a lover of leisurely narration, while it is understood). Of course, there is tension, thanks to the play of Khabensky and Mironov, but in general, boredom begins to look at how the film looks, even as ordinary viewers.
And here I would like to speak. Although few people in our country today talk about the beauty and importance of the image, for me, its absence finally revealed all the weaknesses of the film. Especially the quality of camera work really distracted from viewing and prevented you from immersing yourself in this world. Some of my entourage have commented on poor graphics - it's certainly worse than it could be, but in general the problem is precisely poor lighting. Space and astronauts look toys, light breaks faces, in short, a truly painfully poorly shot movie. I pay special attention to this topic because the film won the main cinematography prize of the country! This is despite the fact that there are many magnificent operators in the country, and among the nominations were chicly shot paintings. It just raises questions.
In general, the film seemed rather primitive and certainly disappointed. Acting was the only truly worthy element of the film, but overall I watched it with great difficulty due to the low quality and lack of taste and aesthetics.
“Time of the first” cinema is very interesting, I generally observe such a trend that Russian cinema manages to show autobiographical documentary works of art very interestingly, something based on fictional history did not live. I’m sure that there is a lot of embellishment in the film, but it only benefited the quality of viewing.
The film affects the fate of two Soviet cosmonauts Alexei Leonov and Pavel Belyaev, these heroes of the Soviet Union were the first to go into outer space ahead of the whole world.
But let’s start in order, the heroes of the cosmonauts are played by two wonderful actors Evgeny Mironov and Konstantin Khabensky, played by Alexei Leonov and Pavel Belyaev, respectively. I liked Mironov’s humor and Khabensky’s sullenness, this duo has the right to be the best duet in space. I liked the inserts from Leonov’s childhood, and when they connect the space and the meadow with the boy lying on it, it generally looked incredibly beautiful. And in general, the space here is beautiful, the feeling that you were there with the astronauts. And the snow-covered forest of Perm is generally worthy of respect, you immediately want to throw everything, take a backpack and go there as a tourist, scar the endless expanses.
Not liked only one detail, as in the film “Salyut-7”, and in “First Time” wives and children of astronauts are chained to the TV, it seemed that these are some biorobots that are turned off during the absence of the owner and only when the landing occurs they turn on and run to the landing site.
A beautiful and interesting film, very suitable for lovers of life movies and stories without murder and violence. The film is about the courage of our cosmonauts and the immense desire to be heroes.
Finally, Timur Bekmanbetov was able to create a film of which he can be proud.
The film presents an exceptional combination of all the fundamental elements of cinematography for Russian cinema: a good script based on a great and dramatic story of space exploration, excellent visual effects, good music, brilliant acting, normal directing, excellent camera work.
The plot of the film is devoid of any frills and as far as is known accurately corresponds to real events, the scriptwriters did not go too far, did not include excessively violent fantasy, plot holes if there are, then do not catch the eye, as for example in ' Movement up' or ' Viking' The main thing is that when watching the movie, it does not come to mind to look for them. And this, like nothing else, speaks of the highest quality of the picture.
The actors involved in the film worked at the highest level. Which again speaks to the quality of the film, they are in their place, not just furniture, invited talents, designed to cover up the defects of the film and lure the viewer to the cinema with their names.
All the actors played great, creating a great acting ensemble. But it is impossible not to highlight the main heroes. And Evgeny Mironov and Konstantin Khabensky and Vladimir Ilyin were perfectly able to reveal their characters - Alexei Leonov, Pavel Belyaev and Sergey Pavlovich Korolev. They really have something to play, the writers are good. The film has humor, and very good, appropriate and in the right amount.
The musical accompaniment was appropriate to the spirit of the picture.
In terms of camera work and special effects, the film is made at the highest level. There's nothing superfluous in the movie. Russian directors are always trying to do better than in Hollywood. I venture to say that this is perhaps the first Russian picture, from this point of view in no way inferior to the best American models. At the same time, the filmmakers were able to shoot a Russian film, and not a remake of Apollo 13', for example.
As a result, we have a great, intelligent picture of the conquest of space, the fulfillment of the dream of mankind, about intelligent and brave people who can and should be proud of.

P.S. For a very long time, this is the first Russian film that I recommend to everyone who reads this review.
After watching this so-called historical film involuntarily rolls sadness and tears, sadness for great achievements, tears because of the lies and meanness of our cultural elite, which is in vogue for such rethinkings of great feats and achievements of a now gone great country.
1. The hero of the Soviet Union, General Nikolai Petrovich Kamanin, a participant in the great Patriotic War heroically saved Chelyuskintsev stuck in the ice, for which he received the first Hero of Aviation in the USSR, in this rotten fairy tale is shown as a bloodthirsty fool who persistently wanted to kill astronauts. In fact, it was he who prevented Korolev from running 'Exit' without all the necessary checks and tests. It was his additional tests that revealed a defect in the brake parachute ejection system that would not have opened.
2. Belyaev in this film is a loser, to put it mildly, who is not able to jump even with a parachute, who, from all experience, has one semi-successful combat flight without a single shot. Of course, these two people will not be outraged and can be made degenerates and losers.
3. Where is Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin, who led the crew from the ground? Where's the real First? I understand that the film is about the vice chairman of AlfaBank and, concurrently, superman Leonov, but the film is 'Historical'.
No, it's not a historical movie, it's another brutish story.
All in all, in every frame of this film lies and vilification. If it was called differently, with left-handed surnames, in an alternate reality and certainly not a historical movie, it would be OK: picture, EMO, wisps in suits, action. That would be nice. But here the fuck. And yours for your grayness and stupid following trends.
Read ' Memories of cosmonauts' with real descriptions of events from Belyaev and other pilots, including Gagarin, read ' Rockets and people' where Korolev's first associate and chief design engineer Chertok told a lot, read ' Hidden Space', in the end, so that no pascud could make a sheep out of you, who can shove any shit in his ears.
Yes, I bomb, bomb for resentment for great people who have been screwed up from head to toe, for a country that has been exposed as a stupid, bloodthirsty chimera. I bombard that education is now destroyed, and the Instagram generation is not even able to write without error; that critical thinking is a stupidly fashionable set of words, not a life principle and the norm of perception of information.
P.S.
Many will say: ' yes, this is a feature film' how could I forget about them, only one inconsistency of art does not mean pouring dirt on great people, especially dancing on their bones and remains of a great state, to blacken all the light so that against their background it does not seem untenable in all respects.
I'm done.

I would like to point out that it is quite difficult to evaluate the artistic component of a film without looking at historical inaccuracies.
In the end, it is necessary to accept the fact that this is not a documentary, but an artistic and negative view of the USSR.
The film is about two world-famous cosmonauts - Leonov and Belyaev, about the development of the Voskhod spacecraft, the training of cosmonauts and the actual difficulties that they faced once in space, and then on earth.
The director paints us a very ambiguous picture with completely ambiguous heroes - Leonov is a fearless and even reckless optimist who does not look back on anything to strive for his dream, while he is ready to risk his life, the life of his partner and the successful outcome of the entire expedition. As a character, he is shown very interestingly, but I am not sure that such distraught take astronauts. Belyaev is shown as a tired and aging warrior who will do as ordered. Although once this hero flashed a dialogue, from which we can conclude that the passion in him still warms.
So, reckless Leonov and phlegmatic Belyaev are selected for a spacewalk. the state participates in an arms race, so design engineers are cut terms as much as two years. engineers are indignant, but the ship is built, because there is no choice. Everyone without exception is working hard.
The film shows how much the state does not care about people. As far as this is true, it remains on the court of viewers and those who remember what happened in the Soviet Union, whether it is true or not, but it was a good technique for whipping up the plot.
When astronauts do go into space at first, they do well, and then begin adventures in the style of the film Gravity, only much less comical, and therefore more experienced.
In my opinion, the film is well shot, there are a couple of annoying moments, for example, flashbacks in childhood or when they start showing the Leonov family out of place, so that the viewer would be more sorry, otherwise everything is very beautiful and boring.

Despite Bekmambet's clumsiness in places and numerous parallels with 'Gravity' it's a wonderful movie. It was like touching a historic moment.
The opening part is long, but the viewer was a little sorry and diluted it with good action scenes. In addition, the abundance of dialogue allowed Mironov and Khabensky to reveal their characters. The speech before the start on Baikonur, where Mironov-Leonov exposes himself, instantly translates childishness and thirst for adventure into drama. And played as... These are not Bullock and Clooney cardboards from the same 'Gravity'.
A separate mention is the hero of the Queen, played by Vladimir Ilyin. Among the flat colonels, engineers and boring wives of astronauts, the chief designer turned out to be the only living character (among the main characters, of course).
And here we go. Honestly, I was afraid of a repetition of the recent hack ' Gagarin...' where the film about space, and the space itself lost (where are the graphics, Zin?). But no, Mironov and Khabensky were in orbit for over an hour. And the spacewalk, which in reality lasted 12 minutes, is well stretched.
Painted very beautifully. Some scenes as if from a non-recorded in 'Gravity'. But the lack of originality does not detract from the merits of graphics. Especially remembered the same emergency with a suit and the moment of entry into the atmosphere - I did not breathe.
Space space is replaced several times by claustrophobic plans 'Sunrise-2' When Leonov was stuck in the lock, I wanted to go somewhere: so pressed tightness.
By the way, the ship itself is recreated with a great love for detail. The abundance of buttons - 'dutika', 'communication', 'oxygen' etc., onboard log, borscht in the tube - very cool.
Well, the main disadvantage of the film is timekeeping. Two and a half hours - that mach (all other promos before the show add). Preparation, training, launch, flight, landing, rescue - that's what I understand. But why did you need a line about the nest in the field? Leonov’s childhood and motivation are perfectly revealed by his monologue on Baikonur. And all flashbacks with a child are valuable only with beautiful plans, but they do not carry any meaning. Cut these 15-20 minutes and it would look easier.
I would have put seven, but for Russian cinema it is

Domestic films from the modern box office that you want to watch again and again can be counted on the fingers, and they are extremely rare. Initially, I didn’t know it was a Russian film and decided to watch it, but as soon as the film began, I even wanted to laugh, because we all know what to expect from our production. I'm not a sentimental person at all, but these bastards could hurt me. And really, I was worried about the heroes. This is probably the first film in my life that I really liked, but to revisit it again is not morally able, at least in the near future.
I’m sure, as in the books and in this film, some facts have been invented, changed or embellished, but understand one thing – in general, this story is from real life, not fictional. Try to imagine how much censorship there is in this film and what the environment was like around these people. Now that you know everything, you can start watching the movie. If your anus does not shrink to the size of an atom while watching the film, then most likely you belong to the generation of Pepsi, who simply do not know the value of their miserable life and freedom, surrounded by ponts and “smart thoughts” 39;
This is the first human spacewalk made by Alexei Leonov! The crew consisted of two cosmonauts, Leonov carried out this historic exit, and the commander of the crew was Pavel Belyaev. Here is this heroic and interesting story and shown in the film. Fortunately, Alexei Leonov is alive, he acted as a consultant in the film, so there is no doubt about the truth of the story in all its aspects, and in relations with the Queen, and in unforeseen situations in orbit and during landing, how astronauts coped with them, and how they were worried about them on Earth. But I have big complaints about the film.
Belyaev performed by Konstantin Khabensky came out cardboard, and Khabensky’s charisma and talent punch through the cardboard role prescribed by the script, but it seems that Belyaev was simply enchanted, he opens his mouth and wants to say something of his own, and he gets only ' how the Motherland will order' I understand that they opposed the more disobedient Leonov and Belyaev, following the instructions (and doing it correctly), but, guys, this brotherhood of astronaut pilots is all hooligan, no one has canceled the discipline, however, I will never believe that Belyaev talked to Leonov with clichéd phrases. And the families of Leonov and Belyaev are also bad at all, dolls, not people.
With all these drawbacks, the film can not come off, it delays immediately, because the documentary material is interesting, managed to create a tense atmosphere during the flight, extreme situations on the ship and after landing, when the astronauts survived in the Perm taiga snows. Very good Vladimir Ilyin in the role of Sergei Korolev, Evgeny Mironov even looks like Leonov. What a great technology!
I watched the film and could not understand, well, I am so worried about the characters, because the tape is shot on a real story, they returned. But I was just in shock from the situations, and soon realized what it was, I was worried not for the plot, but because of what the astronauts felt, what they had to go through, and no matter how much they talked about the psychological preparation for the same initially mentally very stable people, they walked on the edge between life and death, and they were probably afraid, but they fought for life and the successful completion of the mission.
In general, the film is not bad, exciting and informative, but it could be done better.

I never cease to say that our filmmakers, with a strong desire, are able to shut Hollywood by the belt. We know how to make movies, we have wonderful directors, amazing actors and the strongest acting school. The problem is different. The idea has died in us, but greed and greed flourish.
And I came to these conclusions, I looked at the time of the first. Now someone will think that I, like many people, will start to scold the film. But you're wrong. The time of the first is the case when the film lives on an idea and reminds the viewer that often only an idea is enough for feats, and not a frenzied budget.
The film is based on the real story of the spacewalk of the first Soviet cosmonauts - Pavel Belyaev (Konstantin Khabensky) and Alexei Leonov (Evgeny Mironov), real heroes and pioneers, having accomplished the seemingly impossible for the sake of an idea, not fees. One hundred and forty minutes the viewer sincerely sympathizes with these two brave pilgrims who are striving to accomplish a feat for the sake of the Motherland, and this, you know, catches and does not leave indifferent.
After watching, so many thoughts arise in my head and, as it is not trivial, pride in a country that no longer exists. If you think about it, in the Soviet Union, feats were performed by idealists, and the country, albeit competing with the United States, aspired to a bright future, to space travel, to the exploration of new planets. And how sad it is that after the collapse of the Union, all these dreams remained dreams. Today, people look more often at the screen of their phone than at the starry sky, and idealists die under the yoke of capitalists. I don't know about you, but the sudden realization of this bitter truth made me sad. But I am grateful to the director Dmitry Kiselev, Timur Bekmambetov and the creators of the film in general for once again reminding us that our country has its heroes and its glorious history. And, of course, if even a small part of what is shown in the film is true, I would like to shake hands with the brave pioneers - Leonov and Belyaev - for their courage.
It is worth paying tribute to the actors who played the roles of these wonderful people. Mironov managed to play the image of the idealist, who from childhood brought love to the stars. At the same time, he added a bit of his own charm to the game, making the hero Leonov a favorite of all viewers. In contrast, he looks serious Belyaev performed by Khabensky. Konstantin is not for nothing considered one of the leading domestic actors, it seems that he can play any role. And after a first-class collector, I have no doubt about it at all.
Initially, many people compared time to gravity. But you know, in my humble opinion, these films lie in completely different planes. Gravity is technically impeccable, there are very good actors involved, but this is a fictional story with a lot of fantastic conventions. The time of the first is a story about real heroes, what they experienced in outer space, may not be compared with the bombardment of space debris, but filmed no less colorful and vivid. Space looks even more realistic, but if Hollywood sees in it aliens and other threats, our filmmakers look at it with hope. This is what you see while watching.
The story is divided into three separate parts. The first is preparations for going into space. Our heroes are trying to find a common language, and we will learn more about what Leonov and Belyaev live and breathe. There is a slight tension here, because we are well aware of the risk that astronauts are taking - the ship is not fully ready, ' from above' press and rush, and going into space without proper preparation is fraught with the death of the crew. The second part is the exit itself. You know, this is where I really came up with tears. When Leonov peers out of the manhole and the Earth spreads out in front of him, there is a sense of euphoria similar to what I had while watching Gravity, when Stone finally reached Earth. And here we see the opposite situation: for the first time a person is in outer space. How does he feel? Awe? Awe? The director and Evgeny Mironov masterfully conveyed these feelings. And then passing through copper pipes of technical malfunctions and trying to return to Earth, which is no less dramatic than in the same gravity.
And finally, the third part is the return to Earth, when our heroes find themselves in conditions even more difficult than in outer space. I started to cry again here. By the way, the woman next to me in general to the final sobbed and sniffed her nose, as if watching Hachiko. The third act is incredibly dramatic and shows real male friendship and mutual assistance. The actors wanted to applaud - they forced the viewer to empathize.
I would also like to mention Vladimir Ilyin, who portrayed the curator of the Soviet space program Sergey Korolev. This man became a kind of beacon of light in the realm of bureaucracy. In my opinion, he is no less a hero than Leonov and Belyaev, he made impossible decisions even against orders ' from above' and this requires considerable restraint, given the times in which events took place.
The composer Yuri Poteenko deserves mention. You know, we all know American composers like John Williams, who wrote the famous themes for Harry Potter and Star Wars, Hans Zimmer with his The Dark Knight theme, Klaus Badelt with his Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. But who can name at least one composer? Yes, maybe our composers are not so promoted, and their music does not understand ringtones, but it seems to me that Yuri Poteenko is worth remembering, because he is a huge talent, whose music adorns many of our films - Christmas trees, Black Lightning, Inhabited Island, Metro, Night and Day Watch... These films were watched, perhaps, all over the country and few people thought that the music in them belongs to one person. Poteenko’s soundtrack to the Time of the First is beautiful, and the master himself deserves special praise.
At the moment, the film does not have a very good box office, and the viewer is in no hurry to go to it. This is due to the government support of the domestic film industry. After all, in the desire to recapture as much rental time as possible at cinemas, the Cinema Foundation spits on the desires and tastes of the ordinary viewer. This is a very bad policy, which leads to the fact that the weak interest in domestic cinema will soon completely fade away. And even such wonderful and in every sense worthy films as Time of the First, will not be able to pay off at the box office.
As someone who loved the film, I recommend going to the movies and taking your kids. I believe that it is through such examples of heroism that young people should be taught the right things. You need to distract from the screens of smartphones and learn to look at the sky again, at the stars. And maybe then our country will again have a generation of idealists and pioneers.
I was waiting for this film, because, firstly, I like the theme of space, and secondly, I had high hopes for this tape. The fact is that, frankly speaking, Russian cinema is still in a state of deep crisis and we practically do not see good pictures. However, it is worth admitting that the end of 2017, with the releases of “First Time” and “Moving Up”, showed that it seems that we slightly shook our heads from the ashes.
The movie is really good. The first thing you remember after watching is an amazing atmosphere with maximum tension when you need it. I was really worried and mentally repeating, “Come on, come on, you’re going to get it done” in those moments when the main characters were in mortal danger, despite the fact that I knew everything would end well. This is, in my opinion, the main merit of the film. Total immersion in the history and atmosphere of the film.
As for the actors, of course, there are no complaints. Watching Mironov, Khabensky, Ilyin play the main roles is a pleasure. The rest of the characters in the film are almost not remembered and, perhaps, this is a small failure of the script, but it is still better than unnecessary characters “push” into the main storyline and distract the viewer’s attention in vain.
The graphics in the film are also very, very decent. We can do that when we want to.
Another point for which I was extremely worried is that tapes of such patriotic content are very often filled with excessive pathos, which makes it harder to “believe” the picture. The filmmakers dealt with this problem very well. Yes, pathos in the picture, of course, there is, but it is sustained and just in the amount in which it is needed.
In the end, I want to say that the picture is really worthy and I want to review it. It fits perfectly for any age and will make you love yourself, as nostalgic for the times of the USSR elderly man, and a child who is absolutely sure at least once after watching will think about the career of an astronaut.
Stunning scenes, exciting, clinging to the soul. Everyone in their seats. Everything is harmonious.
The characters of the characters, their dreams and desires, fears, relationships are well shown and correctly presented. There is no excessive pathos and imitation of Western cinema. This film makes you proud of your country. It enlightens the unenlightened, and those who seem to have heard something somewhere, but did not betray much importance to this, well, it was and was. But such events people need to know and remember. And of course, it is most pleasant that it was shot qualitatively, as this film, and not as it turns out (like most of our modern Russian films, for which it is often shameful and offensive).
It’s not 100% true, but it’s not a documentary. Personally, I was interested, inspired and pushed to a more detailed study of this topic, and space exploration in general. I think this is a huge plus.
Quality, plot, cast, musical accompaniment, everything was done on 5+! I recommend watching. And at the same time, you will learn a small, but very important piece of history from the past of our Motherland.

Conquest of space In space exploration, Russia, being then part of the USSR, was largely the first – the first satellite, the first manned flight into space, the first man in outer space. But in the conquest of cinematic space, the notorious West, with which the heroes of this film compete, has long overtaken us, plowing it back and forth. And watching “Time of the First” you can’t help but remember Western paintings on the same subject. In particular, "Gravity" by Alphonse Cuaron. And, to the credit of our cinema, we can say that Kiselev's film, no matter how unexpected it may sound, is almost not inferior to the creations of Hollywood. Of course, the script in it is not without roughness, the visual part is sometimes not as beautiful as in the same “Gravity”, but for modern Russian cinema this is a great breakthrough. The appearance of this picture was difficult – at first, Bulls took it, but then the shooting stalled and after some time, the work was continued by Dmitry Kiselev, the author of the god-awful “Gentlemen, good luck!”. Naturally, the film was affected, and at times it seems dry. There are heroes that we seem to empathize with, there are relationships between heroes, there are goals that these heroes must achieve, there are obstacles that they must overcome. Only these characters seem conditional figures, deprived of life. As if they themselves and their relations with each other were written according to a scheme from a textbook – here is the hero, here is the goal, here are the obstacles, the ticks against the points are set, then everything is ready. They lacked some kind of life, the personal attitude of the creators to these stories, so that they did not seem like cardboard men from posters. But in another storyline - the line of space exploration - this attitude is. And that's why this line is great. Not every viewer will like it. Many critics and viewers called the film anti-Soviet, and for good reason – the film clearly traces the idea that all its feats Soviet cosmonautics did not thanks, but in spite. Contrary to incompetent party leaders who want a beautiful spectacle, no matter what the cost. Contrary to the paranoia of the military, for whom ship schemes are more important than human lives. This line is built much better than the relationship of astronauts, the stakes in it are higher than in the fulfilled or unfulfilled dream of the artist and that other guy who just follows the instructions of the party, and therefore it is much more interesting to follow it. Visually, the movie looks good. Not great, just good. Numerous footage of the earth from space and the cosmonaut with a cord-umbilical cable against the background of the void constantly forced to recall similar footage from Gravity, and our film is inferior to it. Cuaron filmed his cosmos, laying religious references, themes of life and death, which made it filled with meaning, some philosophy. Whereas the cosmos of the First Time is just space. Cold, unfriendly, visually impressive, but empty. He's just a scenery here to accomplish feats. However, the decoration is well done. "Time of the First" - the film is quite interesting and undoubtedly worthy of viewing. He may leave ambiguous emotions, especially in those audiences whose hearts are filled with tender love for the Soviet system, but it is worth watching. At least in order to make sure that modern Russian cinema lives not “Yolkiy” and “Bogatyry” and it is quite capable of producing high-quality cinema. 7 out of 10 Original
Over the past couple of years, I have been very pleased with Russian cinema in terms of films for a wide audience (I think everyone will remember what he liked from our cinema in this regard). For me in this regard, the main discovery of the year was just “Time of the first”.
The film tells about the first ever human spacewalk.
I was waiting for a traditional patriotic story, and I received a story first of all an emotional and touching story about the difficult fate of the Russian man, his adversity and hardships, overcoming not only himself, but also the state machine and even earthly attraction.
Separately, it is worth noting the strong acting work. Alexei Leonov performed by Evgeny Mironov and Pavel Belyaev, played by Konstantin Khabensky were like Yin and Yang on the screen. Hot, crazy and striving for the sky Leonov on the one hand and calm, wise experience Belyaev on the other, created a stunning chemistry on the screen.
Vladimir Ilyin in turn perfectly conveyed the image of the famous designer Sergei Korolev. Knowing the difficult fate of this outstanding man, it was as if, for these few hours, I was looking at the real Queen, a man who lives a dream, but knows the value of this dream.
“Time of the First” gave me a strong story about people with a capital letter and even made me let a stingy male tear.
